    Woohoo!

Nice work. You would need a jacket to go with it as well now.

Well, after considerable planning (read convincing aghast family members), the steed is finally in the stable. Was supposedto get this baby around November 2013. However, as my deputation was invariably extended, I was given a choice of going for the 2014 FXDF instead of the 2013 model. So happens I was the first bloke in Kerala to be delivered one. Furthermore, as my tub called Houston frequently, I did manage to get a few Screaming Eagle performance parts as well as some bling material, most of them at discounted rates during a Sturges Festival.
I don't really so much as fancy punching keyboards, but promise to write more about the first ride.

Congratulations sir! Kindly post pics here as people who aren't connected as friends may not be able to see your album. At least I couldn't see any pics.

Wow! BTW, you might as well edit the registration number (visible on the front plates) in the 3rd pic from top.

              Ride report please!

I am not a fan of cruisers at all, don't like them one bit. But these photographs... man your ride is so beautiful.... If I had the money I would have brought it. This has to be one of the most beautiful HDs ever...

Congratulations mate, set the world on fire.. life starts at 40!!

Re: Need help in deciding between Intruder 1800 and HD 48

Date of aquisition: Jan 2014. Popped Cherry: 19-March 2014. Odo: 500 kms

Let me start by requesting all to ignore my ignorance of not being too technical in my terminology or description. This is more an account of a gung-ho rider smitten by his new wheels.

Well, here we are, it's been a little over a month since the wife, kids and dog have been neglected.

First Impressions: Stunning looks from all quarters that you're itching to swing a leg over. The drag bars, solid disc fat wheels (130/180), twin Headlamps, beefy forks, tommy gun 2-1-2 exhaust, the slash cut rear fender with the twin LED tail lamps all make for a brute looking brawler. Visible splashes of chrome to accentuate an otherwise blacked-out look.
No sooner was the side-stand off, the first thing that came to mind was that voluptious Columbian entertainer i'd met at a local pub ages ago. At close to 400 kgs, the Fat Bob ensures a complete work-out of your biceps and forearms. I dread to think of the day i'll need to hoof-it with the bike, for any reasons whatsoever.

The seat is well padded, is of the 2-up layout, for the rider and the pinion. The rider's seat grabs your behind and secures a snug fit. Can't say the same for the pinion seat, a bit too streamlined to compliment the profile, not much of real-estate there for wide loads. At 26.1 inches, a medium-built bloke like me can just about manage to flatfoot.
Turn the Ignition and the first and possibly the only disappointment hits you. You'd expect a thunderous exhaust note but, instead you hear something a lot more softer. I could swear my dog farts way louder. This drawback prompted me to eagerly place order for aftermarket screaming eagle pipes and high flow air intake with vance n hines fp3 fuelpak, as suggested by fellow HOG riders. Believe you me, a whispering chopper is like a silent orgasm, no fun at all.

The first few runs were in the bylanes around my residence, that's dotted with speedbreakers. The thrust and torque that hits you on 1st gear takes you by surprise and it continues to impress you through subsequent up-shifts. Being a heavyweight she feels pretty stable at tripple digits, which you hit on the 2nd gear itself. Low end torque leaves a little more to be desired, as she tends to shudder on 2nd at speeds less than 30 Kmph. This requires you to frequently alternate between 1st at 2nd at low speeds. Cornering wasn't too difficult either, she behaves the way you'd expect her to, when you lean-in. The shocks do their job well, damping out most bumps. Rear shocks are adjustable. Have been to 4 HOG rides on highways so far, no complaints there. She settles in comfortably at 6th, on long open stretches. The throttle grip greately helps overcome right arm fatigue on long cruises.

Heat from the cylinders/engine block gets to you at slow speeds. Deflectors are available as an aftermarket accessory, intend to rig up same. Although I'm a family man who has no intention to expand his family, I guess it shouldn't bother me too much.
Well, that's about as much as I can sum it all up. If this reports has caused some dissatisfaction, hope the pics more than make up for it. I'm up for a ride to Munnar/Kodiakanal - a mix of twisting-winding high altitude roads and some open stretches. Promise to report anything interesting or atleast post pics.

                    Ride safe.
