Let’s start with some context:
I started riding in Aug 2021, before which I had no interest in motorcycles. I know… but I don’t need to tell you lot what happens when you do ride one. You can’t ever go back 😝
Within 2 months of that, I bought a used RTR 200 because that’s all I had the budget for and I was also slightly apprehensive about my skills on a Dominar 400. It’s been a good experience so far - so, nothing to complain there. I actually did a Bangalore to Ladakh (and back) trip on that in October 2021 and I’ve just fallen in love with touring since then. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to do much of that since then due to multiple hand injury incidents (nothing to do with riding) and even now, it’s not healed (probably at 50%).
Regardless, I’ve decided to take the plunge and go for a proper touring bike and here’s where I need your help/suggestions. I’m new to the forum. So, please forgive me if I’m not maintaining the decorum in any way.
Plan: I'm planning to buy a used bike (under 6.5 lakhs) and I'm mostly looking at the following options:
Tiger 800 XCX (2016)
TRK 502/502X (newer models)
Versys 650 (2020/2021)
Honda CB500X (if I can get my hands on one)
CFMoto 650MT
1. Obviously, 800 is the best option of those but a) it’s hard to find and 2) even harder to get it in my budget - so, if there’s someone out there who knows a certain someone with the 800 and willing to do business, let me know.
2. Do you have a different suggestion in mind?
3. Do you think I would be better off with an under powered new one instead?
4. Do you think OLX is my only option? Or do you know of any trustworthy third parties? If yes, do share.
