  • CBR 150R v R15 v2 v DUKE 200 for city ride ??

    hello xbhpians..

I'm confused between the above three..

    my requirements:
100% city drive..in peak traffic during office hours..around 40 every day..
so bike should be very comfortable and good handler..
decent mileage around 35-40 in traffic..coz of increasing fuel prices..
budget around ~1.4-1.5.. I've stretched from aound a lakh..

I like duke 200..but read in ownership thread that it would generate a lot of heat in high traffic..they said..its part of the package..due to high compression ratio..but I drive in high traffic everyday..so this is taking me aback..owners of duke..plz answer.. and another noob question..is the exhaust below foot generates smoke and cause heat??

coming to cbr150r and r15 v2.. only issue is driving in traffic..maneuverability..and is driving posture comfortable for about 1:30 hour of driving in high traffic everyday?

    awaiting reply..thanks

Err.. I would also like to add Pulsar 200 NS !! didn't keep in the thread.. coz in other threads few people said that no point discussing about the bike which isn't released yet

Ktm generates a lot of heat in traffic.... Check ownerahip thread... For city traffic amongst the options given by you, R15 would be good as its low end torque is slightly better then CBR 150r..

ya that i know but still its not that much which will make D200 impotent against its competition..It still holds its place firmly of best city bike according to me..& i seriously believe that this prob will get resolved with newer lot of KTM's..

DUKE is the perfect city Bike but mileage is a lot less than CBR150.
Going with your requirement for city traffic/ mileage/ comfort
CBR150 is the best choice as R15 sitting postion is more sporty.

Or else just wait for sometime and check P200NS.

I guess an Apache RTR 180 (ABS) would suit your needs better. As you only mention about ur city commute, Apache fits the bill perfectly. Its not that long, among the best pickup (from 0-60), mileage would be same or a bit higher than what u have mentioned and is a proven traffic cutting machine. Though, u will have to live with the vibes.

Apache is a suggestion. However, the budget that u have mentioned will buy you bikes those are not primarily meant for 40Kms of city traffic. KTM Duke fits better among the three u mentioned because it lets u be upright.
But again u dont wanna be toasted for 1.5 hrs.

If you can adjust a bit with your posture (a bit) and having to rev a bit more to get ur bike going, cbr150r is the one for u.

Else, wait for NS and see how it turns-up. I'm doing the same. ,
                Cheers

                    Hello bro,

I would say pull out R15 out of the equation. Though its good with mileage, trust me you don't want to be driving it in crazy traffic. I've ridden it too many times in traffic and cursed myself for getting the bike(I mean my friend's).

I can't comment on CBR since it is pretty new and I have zero idea about the bike. Heard its good with mileage but not VFM bike.

Duke. Took a ride recently on a friend's bike. The minute you start riding, you know its a street bike. A powerful one at that!! Yes it generates a lot of heat and yes it is a part of the package. You cannot ride for more than ten minutes with just slippers. The pillion seat is worst I've seen. Don't expect anything above 35kmpl in city conditions. The bike's handling is very predictable and light. There is no issue with the exhaust. Overall a nice street bike but with a few small niggles.

Wait for NS if you have the time.

Else you have other options like Apache 180 & P180. Its a case of downsizing but you'll have your criteria met.

Duke 200 is the bike to choose here.. initially it may generate heat, but I think with couple of services behind it, heating issue will subside. Newer engines always tend to heat up a lot, that shouldn't make you abandon the bike all together.. it's an awesome street bike, fits the bill perfectly for you.

it is no brainer that duke is the best street bike available in india.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.
                          #overkill is underrated.

#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

                            Friend,

R15 is the best bike in india as far as it's perfomrance and quality is consedered.

But surely not good for daily riding that too in city Traffic you will go mad. 5-10kms a day is ok but not more than that.

A best highway nike where you see the bike capability of power and handling.

As your requiremnt is for daily ride in city why not a unicorn/Suzuki 150r/Dazzler/ Yamaha SZ/Bajaj Discover 125ST(new launch) and in power segment RE electra or Awenger.

CBR 150r for daily ride i won't recommend becuase sitting position is not up right as per need(INMO). R15 out of question ,Why Duke ?? that too in city?? as you said you want 100% city bike than Duke/R15/CBR150r are more than what required and surely not a city bike for traffic.

buying a bike should be very clear with it's purpose, so that you can have a good relationship.
                            Else it's your choice.
