  • Choice between D390 & Iron 883

    Hi Guys ,

I know the thread title itself will make people think that there is no comparison between the two bikes but still want to take views from all member here.

I currently own D200 which is sparigly used in city (somtime to office or to local market etc) but after riding it for more than a year i want to upgrade it.

This new bike will be used only in city , so I can go for D390 or Iron 883 .

Why duke 390 --> Becoz it's next direct upgrade to D200 , it not as wild as D200 but still it's fast with all the goodies (ABS, sticky tyres etc). I can live with it.
    Why Iron 883 --> I love it , it's a harley.

I am confused becoz i will not be selling this bike for atleast 4-5 years or may be more , so don't waana settle for anything less.

Please pour in your suggestion guys .

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

its simple.. if you have the $$$ to buy a HD, then go for it eyes closed..

      Ride safe and have fun.

Since you ride occassionally, may be over the weekends etc and if you have the moolah. Go for the HD and you say u love the Harley, but then be prepared to spend more for the after market exhaust etc.

Harley since you love it and really want it.
Duke 200 can be kept for city commutes and places where the harley will get unwanted attention like local market parking lots. (Resales will fetch you max 1 lakh I guess. Better to keep it and wait it out for a few months if finances are a problem right now)

will you sell you duke 200? If yes, then 390 is convenient for commuting ..
Btw .. if you love a bike then you should try your best to have it correct?
On the side note .. I like RTR 180 more than Duke 390 for bangalore traffic..

Have you checked out the Hyosung aquila pro GV 650 it is better than Harley in many aspects also it would not rip your pockets for maintenance and accessories and it can handle pot holes speed breakers and bumps with ease you can check this link out for hd and hyosung comparion http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...d-story-2.html

Thanks for the reply Bprags , For weekend ride till now I have been using my Fireblade . Not sure if i would be using Harley for weekend morning rides as we prefer to ride fast atleast on sunday morning

Thanks Miks , This is the best option that came to my mind but i am not willing to keep 4 bikes ( I own fireblade , Duke 200 and Pulsar 180 Dtsi ). As of now blade is used for morning weekend rides , Duke for ride to office etc , Pulsar is used rarely I ride it to just keep the mechanical parts in working condition. I will not the selling pulsar as it is my first bike on which i learned riding.
The new bike which i am planning to purchase will be used only in city (occasionally) , i am looking for comfort only rest i can manage.

Thanks On the run , I have taken test of aquila pro , It's a beautiful bike no second though about that but i don't like the forward mounted footpegs and also the power delivery is not something that would leave u awestruck. I means it doesn't have the fun factor that even my puny duke 200 provides. Not to my liking.

I guess i have to again take back to back test ride of both Harley and D390 and would then be able to decide what best for me.

Compared to H883, a D390 with it's extremely nimble footing would make a better option for city riding. The Harley would have made sense for weekend rides, but you already own a 'blade...so the bigger Duke would logically make sense.

In all other aspects (Looks, Drool factor, Brand Value etc...in short, aspects where the word 'logical' doesnt blend in), the Harley is a much better option!

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!
