  • KTM Duke 200 or Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350

Guys, I have finalised to buy a bike within a week, and have narrowed down my choice between 2 bikes, Ktm Duke 200, and Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350.

Both the bikes are entirely different in almost all possible aspects and purpose. That's the reason, I am really confused.

I am looking for performance, responsive power, rider comfort. I know I can't get everything in either of the 2 together but still looking for the best combination of all my requirements possible in 1 bike.

    Please suggest friends...

    Topic Approved.

I'm afraid it might turn into a war thread. But I'll just keep it simple...

If you want a single man's 90%city+10%highway ride, with handling to lean into corners and enough power with low weight... In short a modern engine & chassis that help you reach your destination faster, then go ahead with Duke 200.

If you want a really classic looking bike, or want to hang out with Enfield owners, or want enough torque to pull heavy loads, or want to tour more, or have an emotional side towards Bullet (like maybe someone in your family used to ride one?), then choose the Bullet.

Summarizing it, one man rider with not much load to lug around, and want to reach your destination faster? Go for Duke 200.
Have enough time and want to thump around and reach at leisure? Want to tour around? Go for Thunderbird.

Well, my group doesn't go on tours very often but once every 3 months we do hangout for 300-1000 Kms ride, planning to go to Goa in November end, I live in Bangalore.
Apart from this, I am a working professional, so daily up and down of 20 Kms is a thing except weekends.
Anyways, your reply is convincing enough to make a choice, but lol, still in a confused state of mind :P
      anyways, Thanks

As touring is part of your agenda, you can go with TB. You have not mentioned about other details, like the time / money you can spend on maintaining the bike, your riding style etc. it would be good if you specify them. for the details you gave.. TB suits you.
Its crime to ride a car alone, so I ride bike :).

            +100

If you want to have your GF/Wife/Mom/Sis seated behind you on a longish ride, the Duke is not for you.
If you want a sofa, the Duke is not for you.

If you want 100kph+ top speeds and bragging rights, Enfield is not for you.
If you are a lane-splitting, maniac rider who can't wait at traffic signals, Enfield is not for you.

In short, if you enjoy a slow, calm breeze gently brushing past your face while you gaze at a lazy sunset through your open face helmet and idly cruise past, the Duke is not for you. If you liked the last line, you are already in love with cruisers~!

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

Ah! Instead of OP's post, I referred Samarth's replying date and read it in 'Indian' date format. 10/01/2013 as in Jan 2013.
