  • Calling for all the experts in here..

    Hi Everyone,

My name is Asim Shaikh and I am from Mumbai. My height is 5' 11'', weight 90kgs,34 yrs, I currently own ZMR for past 2 1/2 years. Most of my commute is city ride (Office - Home) with occasional long distance rides .

My first bike was Unicorn, ZMR is my second. I bought ZMR 2 yrs back cause that time I didn't had many choices which would suite me.

I always wanted to own a power bike cause I am a great fan of speed and pickup.

I did a Mumbai - Bangalore - Mumbai on my Unicorn and Many Mumbai - Goa on ZMR.

I think its high time I ditch my ZMR for something with higher specs.

KTM Duke 390 caught my fancy but even KTM showroom guys advice me against buying 390 in Mumbai . They mentioned 390 is not suitable for mumbai and I should opt for 200.

Though 200 has higher hp than ZMR but still I want something even higher..

My experience with ZMR has taught me that full covered bikes are not for me, So I prefer something naked .

My first choice is Ninja 650 ER-6N.. unfortunately its not available in India

I am looking for a naked bike preferably under 5 lacs (cheaper the better ). I am strongly against Bajaj & Bullet :P

I am ready to wait still Feb 2014 to buy the bike cause I prefer not to buy in year end model unless I get huge discounts .

I have read lot of reviews of GT650n so far it seems good but not ideal considering lack of advance features and poor build quality.

Hope you guys can suggest something for me which will satisfy my hunger for power and speed.

Please note I am 34 so I prefer upright sitting position.

It has been my dream to own a power bike hope you guys can guide me towards fulfilling it.

    Thanks in advance

    Asim

First of all welcome to xbhp

Well under 5 lacs Duke 390 is your best buy in naked bikes....any 390 owner can give you a better idea about how it will perform or is suitable for Mumbai or not.

        Cheers

Don't listen to the showroom guys. Buy duke 390. You will get used to it . It has very good pickup, wonderful on highways and it has upright sitting position. I'm suggesting this purely because your are a fan of speed and pickup. Else duke 200 was ideal.

As per Kawasakis Indian website, er6n will come here in 2014. Then the only thing left is the 390 if you wanna buy now. Character of these two bikes are going to be different. Coming from zmr, make sure that the duke doesn't feel too urgent in revving character to you.

Since you are against bajaj also remember that 390 is made by them only

There is no final word on when the er-6n would be released here.. So no point in blindly waiting..
you can read the Duke 390 ownership thread for more details.. I don't know why the showroom guys are not keen on selling D390.. But many and including me think its the best bike available in this price range..
common man, 2L for a 390cc bike with abs.. What else could you wish at this price..
also it ain't that bad to ride in city.. I have also read many the thread and it seems to be doing fine..

                Ride safe and have fun.
                Regards

D390 within your budget, nothing else unless you wanna go for a N650 stretching the budget a bit, a sports tourer. I would refrain from commenting on the GT650N - mixed reviews!!!
