    Hello all,
I'm planning to buy a bike. Sorted out NINJA 300 & CBR 250R. I wanna have this for long term. Neither mileage nor price is a concern (But obviously within 5-6 lakh). Would appreciate your valuable opinions.

definitely ninja 300, there is no comparison between both bikes in terms of performance there is a huge difference between crbr's 25bhp @ 8500 rpm[249.6 cc, Liquid cooled, 4 Stroke SI Engine] and ninja's 39 PS @ 11,000 rpm[296 cc, Liquid-cooled, 4-stroke Parallel Twin] you can have a look on ninja 650 ,duke 390 and gt650r too they both are in you buget

Dude, with a budget of 5 - 6 lakhs, why you thinking about single cylinders. There are plenty of options in your bracket.

CBR250R - As per me, one of the most practical bikes, you can use it for daily commute to office/college as well as touring, less maintainance, light on pocket.

NINJA 300 - Sexy *****. A very beautiful bike, good power and slipper clutch has actually added to the performance. But expensive, even the maintainance is expensive so are the parts.

NINJA 650 - The best budget tourer. A SBK. Very practical bike for India. But as other Kawa, maintainance is high.

DUKE 200/DUKE 390 - Made for the city. Awesome power delivery and good for city use. Bajaj is providing good service support. Good power to weight ratio.

R15 - Affordable track tool. You can throw it into corners without hesitation.

Now, your choice of bike depends upon your use. I needed a tourer which would be light on pocket. So went ahead with CBR than R15 or Ninja. What do you want your bike to do??

                    Hello SKV,
i'll be using it on daily basis. My route consist of 20 km of city ride and around 45 km of highway. Sometimes i'll use it for touring also.
my confusion is about after sales service of ninja and spare parts availability. as i mentioned earlier that i will be having it for LONG TERM, so just confused about long term value for money. though my heart beats for NINJA...

And if I go for NINJA 650, what will be the service availability, maintenance cost and spare parts availability. And any idea about the waiting period for Delhi or Dehradun.

If you are near delhi then in my opinion servicing and part availability shouldn't be a big problem. And as far as bike is concerned both 300 and 650 are very good bikes. You cant go wrong with any of them. But if you want to tour and need a more comfortable ride choose 650. Although mileage would take a hit. Regarding maintenance cost I would suggest you to go through the ownership thread that should solve your querry. One more thing go to the showroom and talk to the showroom guys that would also give you a fair idea.

Now coming to long term part. Kawasaki engines are bound to last long if maintained.

Also which bike do you ride currently?

If you wanna tour, your best bet will be N650R. CBR250R is another option. As far as Fe is concerned both N650 & CBR250 have almost same tank range. CBR with 13 ltrs tank will give an Fe of around 30. N650 with 15 ltrs tank will return around 20 kmpl.

CBR's spares are cheaper and easily available than Ninja. But Ninja has double the power of CBR. Both are reliable enough for long term use.

I would suggest go for Ninja.

I was exactly in the same confusion just one month back, when I was trolling through thousands of forums to decide on my ride. My confusion was between Ninja 650 or Monster and if none then HD Iron. Decision making factors :-
After sales servicing (Ducati was straight out on this one)
Practicality of riding a sports tourer( A aggressive bad ass machine for the city and silky smooth tourer for highways)
And last but not the least I wanted to have fun with the bike which you can't do alone( Both HOG and KNOG are awesome groups, where you can meet like minded petrol heads who are passionate about their rides as you are.

But between the Iron and Ninja it was a tough call, I finally went for SBK'ish looks which I always wanted for my ride.

To be honest with price range you have nothing beats Ninja 650, practical and easy to maintain thanks to awesome service by Bajaj. I got mine just a month back, and it is a real fun to drive. When I booked I was told a booking period of 90 days, but manager gave me assurance of 3-4 weeks and guess what I got the delivery in 3rd week. My bike was second in waiting and Bagga Link gets a lot of 5 bikes every time, thats what I was told. Last I went to Karolbagh 15 days back to collect my papers, the service engineer told me that they have one in stock and one in display. So there can be a chance might get it immediately. Check with KTM CP or Bagga Link Karolbagh.

I have already ridden her 500+ kms and I can't explain my feelings enough that I am loving each and everyday. Ninja is my ride for daily commute to office, which is like 2-3 kms but believe me I take regular detours to make my trip 8-9 kms.

Let me know if you want to anything, I will surely try and help you.

                            Thanks,
                            Puneet
