• R15 V2 or upcoming Bajaj 200 SS ?

Hey guys.

This will be my second motorcycle. Having crashed my Pulsar 180 DTS-i a couple of times, and basically improving my technique, I feel that it's time for an upgrade.

My budget : A max of 1.3 Lakhs ON ROAD
My favoured type : Faired / Sport
Riding Type : Solo (Pillion only for a very very short ride, that too rarely)
Riding Style : Hard. Leaning into corners. Ghat riding
Touring : Not so much as a very long ride.

So, my question is

1. Do I go for the R15 V2, which is at the same power level as my P180, but more refined, lighter and a dedicated Sportbike?
OR
2. Do I wait for Bajaj's upcoming 200SS? It seems to have more of an upright, touring posture. Will switching to lower Clip Ons solve the posture issue?

Any replies appreciated

R15 V2.0
short rides.
Single rider. no pillion.
No 'topend' power upgrade from P180. love leaning into corner and satisfied with current P180 power.
yamaha refinement/ stability/reliability/low maintanance.

P200 SS (assumed)
long rides.
ok with pulsars' quality (200 is miles ahead of P180 in refinement but less than yamaha obviously).
Yes its a power upgrade (though a minor one).
OK into corner (can't never compare a pulsar with yamaha/KTM in terms of cornering/stability on corners etc)
get lot of goodies like projectors, bigger bike feel showoff

why not consider naked D200 1.45 on road... I used to love fairing.. but duke changed that for me
take a long test ride.

r15 or as said above a Duke200/200NS would be good for you as seeing the 200ss, it does seem to be a sports tourer rather than a dedicated track machine. . .

Cheers!!!

Thanks for the views guys.

The thing is, I've managed to spend a couple of days on a borrowed R15 V2, and was simply blown away.
For the Bajaj (NS), I haven't managed more than the company test ride, which is to say, pathetically brief to gain any understanding of the bike (It is refined over my 180, though)
nitin, Duke is a BIG NO NO from the family. Plus I prefer bikes with top end power, over low grunt (Hence the 2 choices)

My question about lower Clip Ons on the NS or SS still stands

vignesh, these are inputs, in the end, your heart makes the decision

Bajaj Pulsar with goodies, more power, long ride, projectors, pillion comfort.
OR yamaha R15 the stable, reliable, non-pillion friendly, corner God.

Duke 200 have got low to high.. full punch.. either of the bikes can't compare to it in terms of performance in any gear/ any rpm/ any speed.
Just its locked at 10.5K rpm.. so no talking about beyond 135kmph.. but you would be far far ahead of competetion already till the time you reach there
personal preference is the only thing, that keeps one away from this machine

If you're looking at sporty riding position, choose a bike that comes with clip ons from the factory as standard. Forget about after market jobs. They'll require some amount of alterations. They might end up damaging the bike's stability. Even the clip on kits for the world famous Ninja 300 aren't truly plug and play. So forget spares for Bajaj bikes. You should take a look at RC200 IMO. It'll have a stock super sport riding position and more power than R15. Sprocketing will yield better top end than a stock D200 as well.

pcgamer, the RC200, when launched, will certainly cost more than the Duke 200 itself, which is currenty at 1.45 Lakhs. Keeping that in mind, and my budget (1.3 Lakhs max), I can only dream about the RC

R15v2 is faster than the P180 in every way including acceleration & top speed. The difference is that on a P180 you ride on the strong mid range grunt but on the R15 you will need to wring its neck to go properly fast.

You can wait for the SS 200 if you want. But going by your requirements (listed) i would say the R15v2 will suit your needs perfectly.

Go with the R15 mate. Excellent bike in its segment and more importantly, fits most of your requirements.
Also you have the budget for it, just go and buy the bike
On SS, there is no definite date when it would be released. Could be next week or next month or more. If you want, you can wait. But i would say, hell with others, go and get a R15 you won't regret it.

Ride safe and have fun.
