  • Hi pals, please guide me to choose my very first bike.

I am Chetan from Faizpur, dist. Jalgaon.
I am 23 yrs old. My height is 5'7ft and i weigh 58(pretty thin)
This is gonna be my first bike so i really need your help guys. As i dont hav much riding experience( i have ride pleasure and bajaj ct100 occasionally)
    My ttotal budget is 70k(-+2k).
    Following are my expectations..
    1. Good mileage and riding comfort.
    2. Engine reliability and smoothness
    3. Low maintenance and parts availability.
    4. After sale service..
I want a bike for a long period.
I'd ride mostly in city.. and long runs too.
I have a shortlist..(which can be modified by anyone )
    1. Cb Unicorn
    2. Cb Shine
    3. Cb Twister
    4. Discover 100M or 125St.

So now i better leave it on all you experts.. please post ur honest opinions.. pros n cons.... thanks in advance..

    Regards,
    Chetan More.

Re: Hi pals, please guide me to choose my very first bike.

        1. Cb Unicorn
        2. Cb Shine
        3. Cb Twister
        4. Discover 100M or 125St.

Looks like Unicorn is out of your budget. It costs around 77k on road atleast in Chennai, not sure about your place. Did you check the pricing in your area?
Since you meant stylish/sporty, Shine would be out of your list as it is neither stylish nor sporty(atleast to me).
Since you have budget of 70k Discover 125 ST would be a good choice, nice power and mileage figures, mono shock, open drive chain etc
You may look for Hero Ignitor too, which is a good bike with in your budget with all goodies like digital speedo console, tubeless tires, split seats and reliable, smooth Honda engine. Ride quality is good too.
It may have slightly less mileage and power than discover 125ST, but the engine smoothness and reliability way better than discover.

Have a look at centuro, test ride it once and speak with the owners in the Owner's thread, you might feel it's good. . .

Or else Shine is a good option. . .

          Cheers!!!

why no yamaha.... Yamaha has a 2 very good bikes in the specified range the SS125 and SZR.
I personally own a Yamaha SZR and its pure bliss to ride. I am mentioning few pros and cons

            PROs:
            1. Excellent handling
            2. Good Torque in lower rpms(u can even cruise at 20 in the 4th gear)
            3. Excellent pillion comfort.
            4. Sporty looks

            Cons.
            1. Mileage little bit on lower side(40-42)
            2. TVS tires not upto the mark(I changed it to Ceat and its the best now).

dude the names ani_iceman. icecream did not sound pleasing.

Coming back to the bike, damn yeah it will work, it will run for you. I own a first generation SZR, and its the best. Now they stopped production on SZR and have taken out a new version SZRR with few cosmetic changes. But the bike is damn good.

Spare part availability is good here in Pune but definitely look out for it in your area. And after sale service is also good. If you are thinking of SZR/SZRR ping me later and I can give you a few tips on the maintenance.

On road here at Pune is 72K. Check it in your area.

Mileage varies between 40-42kmpl for me since I weigh little on the heavier side. Also it depends on your riding style/way.

For pics you can definitely get a lot on the internet, just google it man.
