  • Suggest me a good bike... bit confused...

    Hi all,

I am not as seasoned biker as compared to all seniors over here... but bit tough heart to revup to the expectations..... give me a suggestion on which bike to go and i currently own a 2012 Bajaj 125 discover which has clocked 12k in one year... and met with two to three slipups during riding ended flat on the road due to some rock solid stupid tyres....

    1. Budget : 1lac

    2. Age : 31 yrs
    3. Height :6ft
    4. Weight :102kg
    5. Intended usage (eg. Office/College commute, Highway runs, Racetrack usage, Weekend recreation riding etc.) : Everything
    6. Fuel Efficiency requirement (approx., if any) :40kmpl is much sufficient
    7. City & Highway percentage usage : 50-50%
    8. Approximate Daily / Monthly running : 60km per day
    9. City / Town /Village of residence (so we can evaluate road conditions / traffic / terrain / altitude / OTR pricing) :Bangalore with off road driving conditions
    10. Brand / Bike type preference (if any) : RE, Yamaha, Hero, Honda

    Query Approved

With an expectation of 40 kmpl, then a 150-180cc is all you can get. Anything bigger wont meet this criteria. You will not be using your 1 lac on the bike. So with the remaining money, you can invest in some good quality riding gear.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

You seem to want all in one, don't think all bikes have all the above said stuff. . . If it's for city/highway, then I guess Pulsar200NS comes under your budget, don't forget to change the tires soon after you get it. . . Else try other bikes like RTR180, though not made for the highways, it's good for city and track usage too. . . Other than that if you increase your budget a little more you can get CBR150R, which is again can be used in highways/track but in a city like bangalore where we find worst traffic, it's again a pain due to it's low torque, which you should get used to. . . I think it's better you decide what are your main needs rather than all in all to choose a bike, no bike has all things in it at once. . .

          Cheers!!!

Sir jee, you are changing your bike because of bad tires?
Change the tires to a better/fatter compound/size, not the bike!

I have already done that changing of tyres and i am not changing the bike because of tyres. I am fed up with this bike if at all i go on a highway ride to my native or some far off. also am unable to attend G2G's also because i will not be able to match others bikes.... hope you can understand my thought process.

Then sir jee, there are no obligations with the displacement of bikes in our chapter. You see, we have guys riding commuter bikes to SBKs with us. We don't think about selling our rides.
Hence, I think this reason is nullified. But yes, if you actually feel the engine strained while touring to your native/long distances, then I'd suggest you look for Pulsar 180 (I know you didn't list Bajaj, but its a good bike) or Yamaha Fazer (holds up good till 110 kmph). Both suit your budget.

Looks like everybody has forgotten the proven all-rounder ZMA. Apart from track usage, i guess it meets all the other criteria (as OP said that he isn't much concerned about the mileage)
