  • New bike for college going- upgrade from 223cc :)

Got stuck in a problem, when i am planning to upgrade to a new bike for going to college

Till date i had been using Karizma R (done 55000 km) without any issue, but now the bike slowly is showing its age, and i don't want to over use it since planning to keep it for whole life

    Two bikes in vision

    1) Ninja 300
    2) Ninja 650

i do like both bike, and they will be used to go to college during exams only , 85km one way (170km round trip)

Mine physical build is average, weighing just 57kg and 5'6'' in height

Will it be good if i buy Ninja 300 now, and buy a bigger bike in next 4-5 year, or it will be better if i upgrade directly to Ninja 650

Mine budget is limited to 6.00L

    N350 OTR > 3.87L
N650 OTR > 5.91L * as confirmed by the local dealer

Also want to tell, never seen both bikes in real, only web images , so i even don't know how they feel, the showroom don't even have display bike and will never have one

    Query Approved

The N300 would make more sense according to me. The rest is your call, if you think you are capable of riding a 650cc safely.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

I too think N300 makes more sense, again if you can handle the 650 or like it, go for it. . . It's all in your hands. . .

What do you mean by overuse? You either use a bike, or not use it all all. Both ways, it'd need maintenance from time to time!

So, you need 40 odd horses at least for exam runs? That sounds dangerous right away! I'd say, take the Karizma during exams.

Reading your post, I feel out of the 2, N300 would do you less harm. Rest is up to you.

i think n300 will be a better choice, it looks better has sharper handling than n650 and 40 hp is enough for our roads and its looks absolutely stunning in white..and you will have a slipper clutch and better brakes...

and not to forget a better mileage

reading all replies, it seems like, N300 will be more apt for me

Local dealer promised me to show a bike which is about to arrive in some days for someone else, once i check the bike in real mostly i will go with booking N300

            Most probably white color :X:X

There is no limit to urge or wishes !!

There is no hard and fast rule that if you ride a Ninja 300 then you can ride Ninja 650 as well under control.
it's all dependent on your riding technique and your real life experiences.
You are riding Karizma already so you already know how a 200cc bike reacts and how it feels to brake or control at 110kmph.
From this you can make out how a 650cc or 300cc engine would react ?
They are more powerful and you need more sense while riding.
There would be many couple of instances when you will chased or thrown with a race challenge etc by a other local bikers P220, R15, CBR250 etc...In such situation if you know how to behave then you are ready for Ninja 300 as well as 650.

Now you decide which bike to go ??

As per me when you are planning to buy a 650 now or in future then it's better you buy it now itself. This will save you unwanted money expenditure in future.

                N650 !!!
