    hello friends,

    my name is gaurav.

i live in new delhi and i currently own (not actually) a discover [2006] bike.

i have done 40000+ kms on my bike and still moving on...but i had been planning to buy a bike for a long time but was confused or sometimes constrained by budget , features quality etc...

but finally now i have enough ROKDA... in my pocket i have short listed 3 bikes.

Although they are of different category but with help of xbhp(ians) i was able to sort my problem of bike with no compromise on "comfort" (posted earlier).

    1. RE thunderbird 350cc

    2. honda CB trigger (CBS model)

    3. discover 125 st

my daily running is 30 kms to 40 kms (minimum) mostly in city traffic but i also go out sometimes in 2 months or so (say to my village...300kms approx) and with friends when they are not busy.

i will be buying a bike for a long time (in future).

so friends please tell me the PROS AND CONS of these bikes or apart from these bikes is also welcome but comfort is my top priority.
(please avoid international brands like harley etc...)

and i also have heard a rumor about yamaha FZ-s with "rear" disc brake

    THANK YOU.

    Re: new Bike

    Topic Approved.

I suggest that you see Honda CB Trigger. I know you didn't list it as an option, but you need a 150cc bike atleast for touring. Trigger has a comfortable monoshock from Unicorn, plus it will return acceptable mileage too, and its ideal for a little bit of city and highway alike.

350cc Thunderbird is good, if you can manage its heavy weight & maintenance it requires. Its good for the highway ride you want, just be aware of the high speed vibrations it has, that's it.

Twister is underpowered for highways, its just a 110cc, but you will get good fuel mileage. But the 300 kms trip you want can be covered in 6-7 hours, by this bike, not too quicker than this. For city mostly, it is a good choice.

Discover 125ST is a good choice. It has a monoshock, but I'm unaware how comfortable it is.

      Re: new Bike

why not a hero zmr its comfortable one of the best tourer made in india....,hero mileage ( thoda extra km per liter ) and reliability
cb trigger is a good choice too but its not as good as zmr
tb 350 no reliability you will have to visit workshop frequently, but its the most comfortable choice
discover 125 i think its underpowered compared to the above 3 bikes..

You can consider GS150, FAZER and Apache 160 as well.

          Re: new Bike

If you have enough for TB350 ,dont look for any other bike.
If you're inclined towards sports kinda bikes, look r15( looks) duke200( performance) or pulsar 200ns (if you like duke but cannot buy it)
          Duke 200-1.45 lacks
          R15-1.27 lacks (special edition blue)
          200Ns- 99k
TB350- not a re fan, no idea
Ps.- don't buy a 150cc bike, if you can, go for atleast 200cc

            Re: new Bike

If comfort is your top priority, Dont look any further than TBTS 350.
Having said that, aftermarket gels are available to comfort you and many videos are available on how to do it.

Performance is not expected from RE products, TBTS 350 is no better than my Pulsar 150.

If you love revving bike, go for Duke. Pulsars are not reliable now a days. Other bikes are not updated as per current generation.

It is anticipated that Hero, Bajaj, Honda have planned whole range of bikes this year... if you can wait, you will more options.

            All the best.

              Re: new Bike

@Gaurav Singh.. From the 3 bikes you have listed, Honda CB Trigger is the best. Honda reliability, dual disc, looks are also good. It would be a good choice.
Also, as Anuj has said, get a 200cc bike if you have the budget.

Yup the 200ns is the only pulsar which is reliable. But the service they offer is not so good at many centers. Hope the service improves by the time the new pulsar is released.

out of above three i agree with abhi....why?...i have seen it myself because i was the one who was instructing the mechanic on "how to fit a visor properly"...LOL...and PULSAR is a reliable bike if u know it like you know yourself...

                  Anuj_Gupta

looks don't last for 30 kms to 40 kms...FORGIVE ME IF I AM BEING RUDE.

                    Re: new Bike

Well in Kolkata, finding a SUZUKI SS is a real pain. We are hearing that SUZUKI will increase the no. of SS but that's it. I have no idea about Delhi though . But if you are buying a HONDA/YAMAHA/SUZUKI, chances of visiting the SS is very low except for the servicings. Also, as there are a no. of GS150s available on road today, a good mechanic will be able to address small issues.
Otherwise GS150 is a very capable come smooth commuter come tourer. But having rode it twice, I personally would not recommend it to anybody below 5 ft 8 inches. Take a test ride and decide.

Is there any specific guideline regarding weight and body type if anyone wants to buy a royal enfeild...because my friend says i can't ride it as i am middle weight.

And only heavy people can ride it...is this true???

Not heavy weight LoL, but it needs a little bit more strength in muscles and body to handle the weight and forces exerted by the bike on your body while ridding. Certain bikes require certain body build characteristics for example avenger is best suited for people with heights less than 5 ft. ,200 ns requires at least 5.7 ft height for all terrain easy biking, and similarly due to heavy weight, RE requires ample rider strength, NOT FAT. a sumo cannot ride RE.hope you get my point. test drive shortlisted bikes and see which one is more close to heart and has best comfort for you.

People say many things but in the end, it all depends on how the rider himself feels.
Go and take a TD, if you can ride it and enjoy yourself, buy it.
There isn't any rule saying thin people can't ride RE.

                          Ride safe and have fun.

Nothing as such, if you can lift a girl weighing 45-50kg, you can ride an Enfield!
I have seen girls riding Enfield, so come-on mate, you would be able to do so, as well..
Btw, how much do you weigh?

Well, that's so not right mate! Most of the cruisers have a low seat for comfort, but if it helps the short guys, well and good..

It's a lot like nuts and bolts - if the rider's nuts, the ride - bolts!
