• FZ vs Apache vs Pulsar

Hello fine bikers,
I plan to buy a 150-180cc bike soon, which is zippy enough to let me overtake traffic without having to constantly shift to a lower gear. I was briefly obsessed with my friend's Duke but I find myself unable to pay that much for a motorcycle any time soon. Decent flickability is a must. And my budget is anything less than 83K. FZs are infamous for their below average FEs and rear wheel punctures whereas the P180 is kind of bulky and lacks a means to cut through stationary traffic. And finally the RTR 160/180 have very thin wheels (don't know how sticky they can be on short 1-2 day tours).
Finally, my question is. what is the one thing that is so good out of either one of those bikes that would make me want to buy the same over the others (Power, after sales service, Comfort etc)
P.S: I told the Pulsar showroom guy to try to convince me to buy the P180 over the RTR but failed to clear my dilemma. Also, I'm a tall lad.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

THE END

Chetas Das , thought about CBZ extreme? Even trigger can be a good choice if you compare with FZ

prathappa Ahh, Hero was never in the equation actually. I tried my friend's trigger. It didn't really excite me. If you ask me it give you too less for the price. Again, not a bad bike at all..but really not my choice. I'm looking for a performance oriented machine within a budget.

Apache then, I have heard about its vibrations but comes only after 100kmph. My friend used to go for 400 kms day trip and didnt complain.

and
"flickability"

FZ is the winner in above two

My bro has FZ & for me the bike is a gem. Only problems with the bike are:-
1. Low top end.
2. Low fuel efficiency for its category.

I will be biased & will recommend FZ. Its just so beautiful man.

Woah! A lot of you are favouring the FZ. I'm 6'2, so will the FZ be good enough? It looks undeniably beautiful but my heart says RTR 180. May I know how one might think that the latter is flawed?

RTR 180 is no doubt more powerful than FZ.
I haven't ridden rtr, but I dont think it should have this much vibes as people say. Ride it sanely and you would be good.
If yout heart says RTR, then RTR it is. In th end, if you won't enjoy then it doesn't matter what bike it is.

One advice, don't think too much, it creats confusion and results in decisions which are regreted later.
Go and book a rtr if you are inclined towards it.

Ride safe and have fun.

@nadz11.ns Sahi hai bhai. I am very much inclined to do just what you said. The reason behind my dilemma is to make sure that TVS doesn't bail on me as far as after sales service is concerned (a fair distance away from my residence). And how would rate the handling on the RTR?

I haven't ridden bike other than fz, r15 and HH Ambition
So I can't comment on that.

TVS is in India for decades and they do have good after sales support. Their parts should be easily available in local spares dealer and cheap too.
RTR's are one of the best handlers in 150cc but they'll be just behind FZ because they have conventional dual shock setup.
RTR is light too for flickability, but not as FZ thats it.

So if your heart says RTR, go for it.

If you are looking for a perfomance oriented bike with decent FE, then RTR 180 is the one you should opt for.

FZ is the best handler in the sub-200cc category. No doubts on that.
Apache is about raw-power.
Decide what do you want.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.
