  • Thunder bird question. Dealer says no waiting list.

The dealer has some work in the bank i work, and said i can take my thunderbird 500 as soon as i book. He has it in twilight color and it is a showroom piece. Saw it today and it was scratched on top. Should i buy that or should i wait. He gave me a waiting list of 1 month for a new 500. For 350, he gabe feb 15-20.

Also, should i consider 500 or 350. Is there a difference in pickup. I heard there are fewer problems in the 500. Is it true?

I am new to biking, the first time i rode a bike, it was a platina, the second time, it was the thuderbird 500. Both within a span of 2 weeks. Last month.

    Topic Approved.

Buddy, I'm of the opinion that you should make your motorcycling "needs" more clear. Platina is good for heavy commutes, in terms of the good mileage it offers.
Thunderbird is good for tours, luggage pulling capacity, torque, comfort, etc. but its not that good at mileage.

If you clarify as to how will you use the motorcycle, maybe we can suggest a more relevant motorcycle?

But anyways, if you're convinced about Thunderbird only, then don't worry much about those scratches. Most Royal Enfields had some minor niggles from showroom itself, the last time I checked. Sometimes, the handle is bent and at other times, the front mudguard is scratched, or something else at other times. So, no big deal as its nothing associated with a vital component, like engine or so.

Yes, the 500cc version is faster and torquier than 350cc version so it may accelerate better. More cc= More performance, you see.

Let me warn you that Enfields do require slightly higher maintenance. So, be aware of that before you purchase it. Best of Luck.
