    Gearless scooty for a learner.

    My female friend wants to buy a scooty, but hasn't ridden any two wheeler before. This scooty would also be used for learning.

    1. Budget: ₹50-55k
    2. Age: 22 years
    3. Height: 5"5'
    4. Weight: 48kg
    5. Intended usage: not much, city riding only.
    6. Fuel Efficiency requirement: not as such, more the better.
    7. City & Highway percentage usage: only inside city.
    8. Approximate Daily / Monthly running: would be first used as a learners bike, so usage would not be much. Then some 10-15kms 3-4 times a week.
    9. Brand / Bike type preference: Hero Pleasure, Yamaha Ray

    She test rode a few and the experiences were:
    Honda Activa-I: heavy and more powerful for a first time female rider (~₹55k OTR)
    TVS Jupiter: same as activa (~₹56k OTR)
    Yamaha Ray: Has power like Activa, but she felt comfortable on this one than jupiter and activa (maybe due to slightly low height) (~₹55k OTR)
    Hero Pleasure: this one is the least powerful and lightest. She felt comfortable while riding. (~₹52k OTR)

    So, which one should she go for ? Any suggestions would help.
    I had suggested her to go with Hero Pleasure as it would be easy to handle in traffic and is lighter than other options. But you know girls, she likes Ray more for looks. Will take her for test ride one more time in a couple of days and see what she has to say.
    She has said a straight NO to scooty Pep and the likes.

    The Ray and the Activa-i seem like a suitable choice. The A-i seemed really tiny, can't imagine it being considered heavy!

      Ya, it isn't that heavy. But for the first timer, she felt that way. Will take her to TD Ray and A-I again today.

          Ya, Ray is looking good for a learner. But its very sharp, I also rode it and found it quite good. But a a first time rider, I don't think it would be good.
          TVS Wego was rejected on looks.

          Haha.. I would have to sit with her. I have to teach her. God save me

            Speaking of that, it all goes on how quickly she learns it. . . My friend's sister also took Wego and that was the first time I guess she started learning and she did it quite quickly. . .

            Wego ain't that odd looking. . . Anyways bro, guess Ray is the one for her, look no further, I am saying this on the basis that she knows little riding as she has done some test riders, if she was a complete new to this, then it would had been a real problem but now she can get used to this but make sure she doesn't go full throttle in the beginning. . .

              Ya, she knows how to ride, but not that much. She just rode 100mts or so with me on the back. Will see again on TD.

                  As @Rakesh Rok suggested, get her Hero's RnT with 35 Nm torque at 1600 RPM. She'll smoke D390ers on the road too.

                    With just my my old memories, just a scooty pep gave me a mini heart attack and with RnT now, Nadeem will be admitted in the hospital right after that . . .



                    PS: That's why Divya bhai gave him a warning at the beginning itself not to sit as a pillion when girls are riding. . .

                        Ray or Pleasure.. These are the two options she felt comfortable.

                        I too have experience with what 'might' girls ride avtivas these days
                        Will have to brain wash the speed out of her.
                        Isn't there anyway to limit the speed to 40km/h hehe..

                          You can put a speed breaker though just for your safety . . . Usually it's put in government buses which restricts them driving above 60 kph, you can find a similar one for a scooter. . .

                          Else get yourself a track suit along with a very very strong helmet . . .

                            Haha.. track suit won't do any good on our Indian Roads.

                            Not that much concerned about myself, as she's gonna ride on her own.
                            Actually, I'm here in Jaipur for no more than 20-25 days and want to get here something which can be controlled easily by her. (I'm not buying, just the helping her out)

                            One more thing guys, are tubeless tyres available for Ray ? Not for factory, but are these available in the market ? Any idea ?

                              Today only I enquired about ray and they told me that they have tubeless tyres.
