Re: R15 V2 for new rider is safe??
Yes it is safe as the power is not that much as compared to duke, cbr, etc.
And its okay to ride first time.
Hell my first bike was and is a 200ns.
Go for it. You'll have no problems as in run in period, you'll be bound to ride slow and in that time, you'll learn how to handle in all types of situations, Then you may open out the throttle.
You have experience of riding a bicycle in extensive manner or not..? If you don't even know how to make balance on two wheels, PLEASE DO NOT TRY IT ON A MOTORBIKE.
I'll advise you to get your hands on a activa, scooter or any bike and get experience in 6 months.

Bro. Go for R15 v2 as your first bike.
I bought CBR 250R as my first bike and learned riding on the busy roads of Kolkata. Its better to start off with a sports bike because these bikes are equipped with better controls and smoother Clutch, Gear, Brakes.
Just keep in mind don't go fast to show off people. Learn breaking before you accelerate.

Will not be an issue mate. Sporty riding stance may cause some discomforts on wrists/shoulders initially though. Avoid riding with a pillion till you are confident enough. And go easy on front brakes

Re: R15 V2 for new rider is safe??
lol no problem wat so ever, infact when you ride normally youll feel where all the power's gone as its power comes only after min range.and even i started riding gear motorcycle for the first time in traffic on the p220 and had my first fall @ 25k kms
,so their shouldnt be any problem for you either unless you riding responsibly till the run-in atleast..and please wear a helmet ..

Re: R15 V2 for new rider is safe??
You can learn to ride even on a SBK. But, the concern is, how maturely you handle the bike being a young blood(over speeding, irresponsibly racing in traffic, lidless riding for show off- these are immature riding). Do know you limits, gradually develope your skills over time.
And yes, R15 is a great bike to start with. But again, there is chance of falling and inviting expensive part replacements. So Learn on some old bike for a month, then get the bike.HH Dawn - TVS Star City - Yamaha Gladiator - TVS RTR 180 - Honda CBR 250R - Yamaha R3

That's what I'm concern about buying R15 as your first bike with very Young blood.

Re: R15 V2 for new rider is safe??
I lost my motorcycling virginity on my Dad's CD 100. I've been riding a Super Splendour 125cc since my first year of Engineering and I'll be graduating to a 17bhp vehicle (after having fiddled around with a friend or two's quarter litre bikes). Falls are imminent, so I'd recommend you to get a cheaper second hand to learn all the brass tacks of braking and overall riding. One can easily learn how to ride BUT IT'S IMPORTANT TO KNOW HOW TO RIDE ON A ROAD. If you have friends who ride, ask them for a round or two in an open space. Every biker is always eager to help
P.S: Be cautious, not afraid. Love your bike, it will love you back.
Cheers and best of luck, mate!Last edited by Chetas Das; 02-27-2014, 06:04 PM.

Re: R15 V2 for new rider is safe??
^ rightly said, it depends on the rider. any bike you ride, you willl have to control your wrist. learn how the bike behaves in different conditions. dont try stupid things in the beginning. most importantly buy a good helmet, riding jacket and gloves before you get the bike.'On the Road that never ends...'

Re: R15 V2 for new rider is safe??
Adding my 2 cents..
First of all, welcome to xBhp. Since you are willing to learn the art of riding the motorcycle, you will need a good teacher/ biker/ a friend who rides. Now, the rear seat of R15 V2 is such that even tall guys find it difficult to put their feet on the road while riding as a pillion. If I would have been at your place then I would have chosen a used 100-125cc bike, ask my biker friend to ride pillion with me and teach extensively. Understanding traffic rules, overtaking, braking etc. is best understood when somebody is sitting pillion and guiding. You would not want to drop your beloved sports bike during a WTF situation, would you? After 2-3 days you will yourself learn the basics of riding. Take another 6 months to get a feel of riding in city and on highways. Once you are confident enough, go for your dream bike.A cold hamburger can be reheated quite nicely by strapping it to an exhaust pipe and riding forty miles.......... Live 2 Ride /m\\

As you don't know to ride a bike it's better to stay away from R15. R15 is totally a different species after 7k rpm.
You should try out your friends bike extensively and buy a second hand 100cc bike untill you really become confident.
