it is not only the question of power as all of you said
but the question of requirements like its
    speed
    mileage
    maintenance &
    safety

You might want to share more information regarding your requirements!

You need to be more specific in what is your requirment. What are you looking out of the bike.

But if you dont have any budget constraints and need to choose between these 2 then my vote goes to N300.

If power is the only thing that you are looking for then trust me that cravings won't go, even if you get a busa. . . Else if there are something else that you need, please let us know, so we can tell which either of the two is the best for you. . .

        Cheers!!!

Spare parts for a ninja is more expensive and is not always available. Definately d390 is vfm. N300 is smoother, makes less sound and has more aggressive sitting position

Apart from the bits in bold,

For your height, N300 would look better.
For no budget limit, N300 is a better buy.
For VFMness, D390 all the way!
            Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

If you can afford it go for a Ninja 300 best thing on the roads until 10 lacs.
If you are having second thought due to the price then go for 390.

Having ridden both of them, if I were you then I would get a ninja. Slipper clutch and awesomke twin will win over a crazy single (no chain slapping issues).

Re: ktm duke 390 or ninja 300

Decide your purpose for the bike first and foremost.
That is :- Long distance rides or short rides/spins is what you are looking for.
If at all you ride the KTM 390 before checking out the Ninja 300R chances are you would be disappointed, the N300 is rather bland compared to mind-blowing acceleration the KTM 390 has.

Having said that, the KTM 390 has very cramped ergos, period. Rock hard seat only makes matters worse. Comparatively, the N300 has a more roomier seating position and an ideal lean in to the front, i personally loved the ergos. Though the power leaves you wanting for more, which the N300 lacks only in comparision to the KTM390.

                So take your pick wisely.

Re: ktm duke 390 or ninja 300

This is the question i've debated in my mind for quite a while. Its a tough one because the bikes are dissimilar in just about every aspect.

For me it boils down to this:
                          - Ninja costs $$$$ and its maintenance is also $$$$ (as if that ain't bad enough, free availability of the parts can be an issue). Duke is VFM at $$. IMO the Ninja is overpriced for what it is.
                          - If you are concerned about mileage then you are looking at the wrong bikes. Large cc / multi-cylinder bikes will obviously burn more fuel. FYI, even on my R15 i never looked at mileage except as an indicator of the bike's health.
                          - Engine-wise - having ridden both - Ninja is a hands down winner with wonderful refinement, vibe free motor and a wide linear power-band.
                          - Handling-wise can't say anything about the RC 390 or Ninja until i get an opportunity to ride 'em "properly" on my favorite sections/corners on the street - which of course is unlikely to happen. What i am really waiting for is a racers impression and laptimes of the bikes on the track.

Ultimately, i've decided to go for neither bike as one is too expensive and the other has got an engine that doesn't suit my riding tastes. Hopefully in the coming months we might get some more interesting choices...
