  • Suggestion to buy a 150CC bike

    Hi all,
I am looking to buy a 150CC bike for my daily travel to office.
i kept 3 bikes on my final list and confused to pick one..
    considering
    1. Pulsar150
    2. Hero Hunk
    3. Honda Unicorn

I prefer bike should have decent mileage and good handling in Bangalore traffic.
I am very much impressed with Hunk look and style but worried about user reviews online
Suggest me to pick a best one

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Unicorn has best in class mileage and good handling too, but hunk is a good bike too. Check out the new upcoming xtreme sports too.

May be you have bought a bike so my post may not work for you, nor am i here to suggest you any bike.

But here i am to suggest you something else, and this post is for all of us including me.

You have mentioned about user reviews online, which online reviews you are talking. Here we have dedicated ownership thread and none have faced any problems. I myself ride an extreme and is at 30k kms and bike still runs like it came from factory. Not a single scratch on it, nor any problem with mileage and the best thing is its performance.

Those user reviews you read online mostly facebook users, let me ask you how many of them know anything about bikes. In the road 99.9% people do not know how to ride a bike, they know how to operate a bike and not ride. Those so called online users do not know how to adjust a chain slack and they will complain on problems which have basic solutions like chain adjustment, clutch adjustment e.t.c.

Moreover i am also seeing that before someone buys something for a month or more he will be reading about all of it online. Be it from phones to airplanes, actual wasting of time will be on internet. One of my uncles did the same almost 6 months to buy a phone and everyday comparision and all, i will get mad as he will also eat my brain.

Come on where is your mind and heart. When will you do something that your mind or heart wants. We always try to listen others and do there mind. What about your mind. If you love or like something then get it, buy it. As it will be you who will use it or live with it and not those who advise.

Most of you will argue that they want the best that is why they are scouting the internet. But my point is best is a relative word as nothing is best. If it would have been the best then none other will be in the market.

Remember some 5-10 years prior there was no internet nor so much of online reviews that means all those things that people buy were not good.

Let me tell you when we bought the Joy some 14 years ago we were the first to buy it in the whole of ODISHA and it was a flop model after. But have we regretted. At that time the splendor and suzuki samurai along with caliber were selling in high numbers. But heck have we regretted to not go with flow of Tide. No, never. But infact i am more than happy with it. 14 Years and 3.5 lacs kilometers run but bike still gives a run for money to new bikes. A xbhpian has rode my bike and he himself said that it feels and pulls like none.

A CD DELUXE(which is a popular model of HERO) owner once was changing his chain sprockets at my mechanic place and i was there just spending some leisure time when he on seeing my Joy remarked:- " This is a cheap bike of Hero which failed and also is not so good bike which is the reason for its failure."

I didn't replied anything as i knew he doesn't know anything. My mechanic replied" Does it look cheap. In year 2001 it costed Rs.47000 while in year 2010 the CD DELUXE cost Rs. 42000 that too with bigger drum, fuel meter, alloys and new styling hich the Joy doesn't have. Also you are changing the sprockets for second time in 40k and this bike is runing on same sprockets for last 60k kms. Your bike has run 40k and you are boasting of 70 kpl mileage, and this bike has run 2.8 lacs(at that time) and still returns 80-85 kpl. Lets drag both the bikes and then we will see".

The said person suddenly changes his face. So you see he was advicing something which he doesn't know. The world has been like this only as people mostly advice on some subjects that they have no idea.

I have always bought products from my heart and i have never ever felt bad or anything has not given any problems.

So my post is to all and not to the quoted person alone that:-

Do what you want as it is you who will spend your money and also use it. If you like something then get it and do not think what others will say because even if you buy something there are some who will always say negative about it. So do what you want to do and not something what others want to do.

My friend has Hunk. He didn't face any problems till now. And he says minimum mileage he got was 46kpl. So definitely its a good choice.

All the three bikes in your list are good. Pulsar is the sheerest performer here and Unicorn has the smoothest engine. Hunk is alrounder type, but feels bit heavy. All these return 42-48 kmpl avg.
