  • Having a hard time deciding between 100 cc commuter.

Hey folks.. this post is on behalf of my father who is planning to purchase a 100 cc bike for himself but is having a hard time deciding which is a better buy.. the mileage should be atleast above 60 kmpl( 99% city usage).. I had previously thought of bajaj discover 100t but reliability, I am not sure of, I also have heard that the engine gets stressed up as soon as the speeds climbs and tyre grip is unacceptable making it unsafe (I may be wrong so please confirm this).. new bike that I have started considering is the new splendor ismart ! Is it a better buy when compared to disco 100t ? I suspect splendor is more stable, safe, gives higher mileage and with frugal motor (these being the priorities) ? Please confirm this .. and also suggest some alternatives to these two bikes I have mentioned (avoid bikes from tvs, yamahas, mahindra centuro as they are very rare in where I live so availability of spares would be a hassle, and resale would be very bad ) .. my father is 51 yrs of age and he has a sort of spirited riding habit as a result of which he had an accident on a pulsar 200 dtsi recently .. so I have added bike dynamics as a priority as well folks

    Query Approved

Both the bikes you mentioned are good. Since you live in a place where spares are difficult to source, then why don't you go to the service centres and have a look to see which of the two companies will give you better after sales service.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Go for Splendor. Splendor has proven itself in India for many years. Honda Dream Neo and Suzuki Hayate are also decent ones.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Dream neo didnt convince on the looks front .. it just looks plain scaled down version of honda shine.. and I have read in some reviews that dream yuga didnt provide mileage as promised (just high forties and low fifties . Even my ns gives 40kmpl under sane riding in the city) and neo is just detuned version of yuga .. the hayate is a suzuki product meaning that the svcs are sparse and resale value would be unjustified so didnt take it as an option
I am eyeing the ismart as it has i3s system which should provide a decent mileage as well as the frugal engine and 5 years warranty. But is its dynamics is what I suspect a tiny little bit

being an owner of 17 years old splendor, I would recommend any 100 cc bike from hero motocorp.
They are reliable, cheap to maintain and give superb mileage..
Talking from personal experience, the splendor I own belonged to my cousin its 1998 model, used by him fro 5 years, then used for 6 more years by his younger brother, and then handed me down as they moved on to delhi and banglore. Now its with me for 6 years now and all I do is fill it petrol and service every 3000 Kms.

It is very very very reliable and still give 45 - 50 mileage even after 17 years...

The younger cousin bought himself a discover and its scrap after 5 years, so avoid Bajaj altogether, even its expensive bikes like pulsar are crap after 3 years.

So if I were you, I'd go for Hero Motocorp.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.
