Please help me out......
I am looking for a 250cc bike. But the problem is that RC 390, R25, HX250R and even the new Repsol 250R is launching after some months. I need a two wheeler urgently. I was thinking of going for the Activa 125 cc and then when these launches are over, to get a new bike.So should I buy the Activa 125 and go for a proper bike upgrade later or should I buy a cheap bike now only. My budget is around 70000 for now. And I will use it for travelling to office.Tags: None

What Bike query approved!
Just to clarify a few things:
1. 70k is the budget for whatever you plan to buy now. You *might* buy a 2nd vehicle later.
2. You plan to use the vehicle (at least the one you'd buy now) for office commuting.
Is my understanding correct?
If the primary use of the intended 250cc is office commuting, then I'd discourage it. If you like venturing out of town, then it's fine.
I'd suggest looking up in the market for decently maintained Activas. Sell it/keep it when the new bike comes.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Please help me out......
1) Yes, 70k is the budget right now. I will definitely buy a 2nd vehicle later. A 250cc or more bike. And I have kept a budget of 230000 for it.
2) I will not use it for office only. I will also tour.
One more thing, should I really wait? Or should I go for the 250R right now. Does any of the upcoming 250cc bikes have both the practicality and touring aspect of the 250R?

1. For your current urgent need of office commuting.. buy a second hand activa if you would sell it later to buy a 250cc bike. The activa has the highest resale value among scooters currently. People have even sold their pre-owned activas at prices greater that what they had paid.Originally posted by soumya_ano View Post1) Yes, 70k is the budget right now. 2. If you would want to keep the scooter (for other members of your family/practical purposes) and not sell it when you buy a 250ccm then please go for a new scooter like the activa/tvs jupiter. A new scooter for a long term use is always better than a pre-owned one.
3. IMO just wait for the new crop of 250cc bikes to hit the market, see the market response, gauge the customer satisfaction from ownership reviews, seek expert opinion from first ride reviews and then buy whatever suits you.
I have suggested the above options because I was in a similar situation as yours a few weeks back. I got a new TVS Jupiter and now waiting for the perfect quarter litre for meThe way you ride is the way you are..

Depends from place to place (demand-wise). Plus if you can pull a few strings!Originally posted by soumya_ano View PostHow long will it take for the new Activa 125cc to get delivered? Any ideas?

Re: Please help me out......
When it comes to Activa's, the dealers try to sell them in black. They are aware of the crunch being faced in market. Also, since people go eyes closed for Activa, dealers try to take advantage of it.
IMO, if you are really keen on buying scooter for time being, go for Yamaha Ray-Z. One awesome scooter. My friend has been using the same and is super happy with it.

I am around 5 feet 5. Actually since the plan is to buy a bike only in the future, I am now thinking of buying a bike around 1 lakh which I will sell once the 250 ccs launch.Originally posted by SparKot View PostThis is interesting, how tall are you?

I was thinking of the Pulsar 200 NS but some of my friends were telling me to go for Yamaha FZ series or Apache RTR 180. Some even suggested Avenger.

Best sub lakh bike is pulsar 200ns undoubtedly, rest depends on you, whether you'll be able to handle the power ..Originally posted by soumya_ano View PostCan you guys tell me what will be the best sub 1 lakh bike?
I will mainly use it for commuting. Though I will tour once in a while.
Ans since you're planning to get 250cubics later, I'll strongly suggest not to choose these fzs or rtrs, get a ns, it'll teach you how to handle a proper bhp bike. Going straight from 15bhp to 25+ bhp or going from 23.5 bhp to 25bhp+ ,choose yourself, it'll better and w i knows, you won't even need to buy a 250cc AT ALL, but if you get a fzs or rtrs, you'll surely buy a 250cc bike.

If you have the budget for 200ns, go for it. It is reliable (from user experiences) and is quite powerful and won't make you feel bored. FZ is like outdated now (i have fz myself) and its newer version is coming soon.Originally posted by soumya_ano View PostI am around 5 feet 5. Btw, no one knows when a company will launch new bikes. it can be a month from now or a couple of years. So waiting is upto you. What will you do if companies start releasing their 250 cc's from next month ? You won't have the greens then. So keep this thing in mind.
Ride safe and have fun.
