  • Need a 4 stroke replacement for RX 135 4 speed

    Hello Experts,

Since long time I was planning to replace my RX 135 4 speed, but failed

I did buy a GS150, but after a year of usage it started showing its true colors . So, sold it off when it reached 2 years. That's a old story.

Now I still use RX, and i wanted to know if there is any alternative for this bike which can give performance as well as its efficient and long-term reliable. My budget is 80k. I ride mostly in Bangalore city for office commute.

Myself 5.9" in height and 73 kg weight.

    Regards,

    What Bike query approved!

GS 150R is a very reliable bike though, but since you have had issues with it, I would suggest you Unicorn or Xtreme (within 80k). Take a long-ish TR and decide.

I have seen a member in GS150R ownership thread who sold Hunk (which has more or less the same characteristics as Xtreme) and went for GS150R and happy with it.
GS150 is one of the most recommended 150cc commuters in this forum.
If you can tell us what issues you faced with GS, then it will be more easy for fellow members to suggest you another bike.

Personal opinion,I see none that are fun as RX135, esp in 80k bracket. Hence we see so many bikes from RX series being revived.

          Hi,
I don't know if there is any current bike that can match the ruggedness & longevity of the RX100 but I'm sure you'll love the RTR 180. No offence to anyone but at this price range nothing snaps(...I mean accelerates) like the RTR180.Period.
Seriously for an RX100 user I can't think of a better bike in the range of 80k. If you have a bigger budget try the NS200 or duke200.

Kindly have a good test ride & decide. Happy buying.
          Cheers
          Sam

          PS Don't sell your RX100

This is purely my own view. No offence to any GS owners. GS150 is recommended if you need 6 speed gear box and dual trip meter & clock with reasonably good ride quality, that's it !!! .
But, living with a bike is a different thing all together. The bike lacks enthusiasm of a 150cc machine. Its a lazy bike. Initial experience was quite good, bike was super smooth , giving decent mileage of 55 - 58 kmpl, but after 2-3 services, it started making strange noises , mileage dropped to 45kmpl, the worst I got was 35 kmpl . The company claimed mileage is 62 ! .
Don't think I have not cared this bike, please. Cared the bike like daughter. I have never crossed 70kmph ( it did not give that confidence to go fast either ). I guess Suzuki Service center guys have greater role in ruining my Suzuki experience totally.

I am driving bikes from last 15 years and according to me very less bike manufacturers give the quality with long term reliability. I can live with little less fuel efficiency but can't compromise with performance/handling.

Yamaha rx rd 2 stroke replacement? !
              Apache 180 (rx 100s)
              Duke 200 (rx135s etc)
              Duke 390 (rd350)
Nothing else can give ypu the grin factor of a 2t,
Imo y change the rx135? You can still source parts I guess.

Apache will be a nice bike since you look for a bike that has similar characteristics as RX.
Apache is light, short, efficient and powerful. Go for a TD and check if you like the seating position.

                Unicorn is aged now.
Xtreme/Hunk can be considered too, has good power and decent mileage, but they're bit heavy compared to Apaches.

                  Hello guys,

Thanks for the responses. I really appreciate it.

I have gone to TVS showrooms and I dint like the new apache look. I did not get much time to take TD, i will do that this weekend. I guess Apache 180 doesn't come with old design, which looks cool. Any info guys ?

                    Hi
The Old Apache is still available...at least here in Chennai. As per a dealer known to me says it takes around a month to deliver. Price difference is not much either. Sad part is the original Pearl Yellow shade is discontinued. Similar color in Ns200 also has been discontinued. .
As a personal opinion, the new apaches looks actually grows on you.

                    Cheers

                      Go fot the new apache
Has drls (party trick but a damm cool one)
                      A smaller catcon (throatier exhaust)
                      Chassis mounted rear passernger footrest
                      And faux carbon fiber
Also paint is now not waterbased (white one, lasts longer)
And the overall fit and finish is a wee bit better
People tend to miss this, and I have a friend working for tvs he said these are the differences..
Stupid tvs why you no highlight this instead of stupid taglines:banghead:

Is there any advantage for chassis mounted foot rest, it is there for almost all the 100cc commuters.

Difference in 100cc and apache and fiero (yes it had it too) and cbr et hassis mounted footrest is evident when you sit with a pillion and are doing high speeds, you can crouch and so can the pilloion and its like rear sets for the pillon, also sit with a pillion on both apaches the pillon will be able to grip you better with his her legs... important if your doing god speeds with them,
As for 100cc ones its just there as a cost effective method and is welded on the frame and is forward set

If you have used something from a RX series, then there is simply no alternatives to that. You have already used the best.
From present lot, you can check ot the Apache/Pulsar 180. Or wait for sometime for the new FZ(reportedly having a higher power output).
