  • Scooty for my sister,.. need help urgently

My sister is going to buy a scooty which she will use for office going purpose especially (15-15 km up-down). She is 5'2", lean and wants a light weight one that is easy to handle. The engine should be good, the ride should be smooth and comfortable, and also good mileage wise (anything around 45-50 kmpl will satisfy). She has chosen TVS Scooty pept while I've asked her to check out Honda Deo. A friend of mine again suggested Tvs Wego. Now you guys provide a healthy discussion in this regard and finalize a bike for her soon since she's going to buy it next week.

      I would suggest Yamaha Ray.
A friend of mine also got this few months back and it was her first time riding any two wheeler. She was really comfortable from the first day. Power is quite comfortable for girls.

Rest our mod sahib has posted links, go through them.

One important thing, give her test rides and go for with the one which she's most comfortable with.

      Ride safe and have fun.

Continue persuading her to choose an unisex scooter.

          1. Honda Dio (HET)
          2. Suzuki Let's
          3. Yamaha Ray (Variants)

          Add new scooters to list along with TVS Scooty Pept;
Try to get a test ride on each of them; if a SVC is reluctant, find another one near by which makes provision for test rides.

Do not purchase blindly in urgency, take your time and pick an apt one.

Most will give test rides. Heck when my friend was trying to ride them during test rides, she didn't even knew how to balance. But the showroom guys were really helpful and asked us to try without any worry (expect Honda guys)

So go and have test rides and see what she feels.

            Ride safe and have fun.

Yes buddy, activa i is a very good option at that price range. My sister bought activa i few months back mainly for city use.
It is less heavy than std activa, power & handling is good. But i personally feel it is less comfortable for tall people say above 5'6/5'7

Yamaha Ray-Z should be the choice. And I am personally prefer Aviator to Activa among the Honda stable.

                    Hey there bro,
Try to avoid Honda Dio, It has a tendency that its body panels get loose after a yer or two and then, the whole bulk of the scooter rumbles and make a lot of noise even on the plain road. Notice any dio on the road and you'll know what I mean. Also the honda after sales service is pathetic.
Go for Yamaha Ray, TVS Jupiter is another fresh option,.
Also Yamaha has launched another scooty named Alpha, check it out.

Japanese tech will always be superior to Indian tech(TVS).
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Re: Scooty for my sister,.. need help urgently

My sister has a Dio(2011, 102cc); yes it rattles esp the front body panel set. Rattling subsides when scooter settles into decent speeds like 40 kmph.

Well, we cannot consider Activa (& the like) coz I think they're of bigger profile for 5'2" lean lady.
A test ride on any one of these should be convincing.

                      Honda Activa (110, 125); Aviator
                      Suzuki Access-125; Swish-125
                      Yamaha Alpha
                      TVS Wego; Jupiter

My sister is 5'3" & lean as well; claims Access125 suits her well. I know how she struggles with a pillion on Dio (2011).

PS: I have Access125, build quality is solid, I'm just back from a 220 km round trip on it to my district center.
