I am having my '97 Hero Honda Splendor. Till now it is my trusted daily commute. I just can't explain about their chassis. even another one in our family is having a '07 splendor+ and '13 splendor pro.
Not even one is having rust or some breakage. Even though their chassis paint quality is not good, Their chassis is strong enough for our Indian roads Don't expect its chassis to be strong as a dirt bike's chassis.

P.S. I am not a hero fanboy or supporting them. It is my personal observations and I like and recommend. Thats all!

vICKNY ji I am myself a big fan of the splendor had two from 96-01,01-04, had a passion from 04-08. I am just pointing out that since the hero honda merger broke up thier high end commuter bikes have a reduced chassis quality as a recent friend of mine had a collision at 40-50 range and the chassis twisted from front and widened upto back. My intention is not to insult anyone's fellings at all but i had a piont which i found worth presenting

That's hardly a reason to call a chassis weak and blame it one the split up. Hero have not been borrowing honda's chassis and horns and what not for the split to effect the quality. Its the other way round. Most products have been given a face lift after the split and for my own bike, the spares have been excellent in their build quality.
Coming to the part in bold, even if it were the original hero honda splendor, i bet the results would be the same. Accidents vary and so do their impacts and that's definitely not a criteria on declaring the chassis bad after split up. Its the same chassis that remained before and after split up for most of the bikes.

Otherwise i do want a better power and speed just for some rare moments of joy but i dont want to compromise on looks or comfort or mileage for that because that use of 220c would be very rare.

Btw that comprehensive explanation of all three bikes was really great. Thanks alot for that My current choices come down to fzs v2 and karizma r. Personally i am dont fancy or like pulsar, for some unknown reason.

Who said more the CC, more the bike is meant to be raced with? Infact, more the CC, more easily you can handle the bike and use the ample torque in cities to overtake or lessen the gear shifts in traffic. Do not go by the logic that the higher CC bikes are meant for races and stuff. I know a person who uses his SBK to commute. It all depends how you make use of it. And remember another most important point. There's no replacement for displacement. Higher the CC, better it is. If you have a certain budget, then always try focusing on the highest CC available in that price bracket, TD it, and if it does not meet your parameters like mileage, looks, etc, then look for alternatives or lower CC ones. But prioritize first on higher CC bikes. The engine will have lesser load on itself compared to a lower CC bike while doing the same speeds. Hence higher CC doesn't mean you have to go racing with it.
I'd say try the new Karizma. Looks will take time to settle in but there are many who find the bike amazing and it does manage to turn heads. Read the ownership reviews to confirm and clarify any possible doubts. Pulsar 220 would have been good but then the design is seriously outdated. So would not recommend that. Still, try doing a TD.
However you mentioned you would have gone for the FZ if it gave a better mileage. It being FI now, the mileage would definitely have increased. If you have a certain feeling towards the bike, go for it..

Go for the FZ v.2.0 eyes closed. Its a reliable bike and the new one will give 42-45 mileage with ease. Even old FZ gives 40 kpL, I dont know why people keep saying it gives 35 kpL only. My 2 friends both get around 40 with FZ.

Yes, the older FZ was not as bad in FE as it was projected to be. If one rides sanely, one can easily get 42-44 kmpl.

I suppose I have made my decision then, I will go for FZS v2 Just one more doubt, although its just for the sake of curiosity, I am getting FZ16 v2 for 78k and FZS v2 for 82k. Whats the difference in these bikes that justifies the price gap of 4k? Also can someone send me link to most reliable guide about engine break-in and its discusion page on xbhp? Thanks alot for the advices, they have really helped me make my mind.

Not many differences are there apart from some cosmetic changes.

The only difference in old versions was the small wind shield in front of the speedometer and body graphics(dual tone colors).
Everything else was same. Cant say anything about the new version. Visit the dealership and personally check them out.

Body panels changes and the biggest addition is the Fi and biggest demotion of engine cc.
