  • yamaha sz-rr vs honda stunner

    Hi all,

I am planning to buy a new bike and have shortlisted sz-rr and stunner. I have the below concerns regarding the bikes

Sz-rr: Tvs tyres, availability of spares, mileage(looking for atleast 45kmpl)
stunner: no kick start, chances of discontinuing production

Please help me in choosing one or suggest any alternatives. My requirements are

    Budget: upto 70k
    Engine capacity: preferably 150cc
    Expected mileage: 45kmpl and above
    My physique: lean, 5'7", 60kg
    I ride mostly alone
Other requirements: bajaj and hero not preferred

    Please advise

    Thanks
    Pradeep

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

First of all, "Tyre" is not a measure to discard a vehicle. You can change it any time. Moreover TVS tyres works fine on dry surface, but when it comes to wet tarmac, you need to be extra careful. Stunner is a good bike, but wont satisfy your need of 150cc. It vibrates at higher RPMs. It is perfect in its segment(125cc). As of SZrr, its the least powered 150cc, but better performer than Stunner. My Suggestion- SZrr.
As of spares, both bikes are equally easy/difficult to avail spares. Both are not top selling products for their respective company. So ignore Spare issue as well. Go for SZ. Enjoy.

Thanks for approving the thread moderator.
Sambit, Thanks for your reply. Iit makes sense to me to go with SZ as you suggested.

Go for SZ-RR, no issues of spares, for tyres just change them to tubeless ones.

I think you should go for SZ-RR, for all the reasons given above.
One more reason for choosing a Yamaha is the good service centers. The Yamaha after sales service and the authorized service centers are good, whereas the honda is the worst in after sales service and the service centers are very very bad.
So, I think you should go for Yamaha.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

The SZ is a really better option, the engine does not get strained, and you have low end torque which is very good for city ride as you tend to use less clutch. Mileage is about 10-20% less than the stunner, but that should not be the sole point of buying the bike. The spares are not an issue, I am running 23k km on my bike and I am yet to change anything. The chain sprocket should last another 5k km atleast and tyres for another 10k km. The tvs tyres are not really good, but on brighter side, you won't have punctures! Also by the time you cover 5000km tyres become more flat and give better grip, hard compound tyres last you about 30000 or more kilometers

There are no short-cuts to any place worth going. So ride safe when you are treading uncharted roads.

I didn't get the reason for you are avoiding Hero, as they have two good bikes at your budget, namely Ignitor and Achiever.Okay, there is no reason to choose Stunner over SZR. So.......

                      Go for sz buddy.
Really good bike with lots of low end torque and smooth engine.
Ours has done 30k kms without a single niggle.

Go for SZ-RR and you won't regret. And as Ankey has suggested, Yamaha after sales service is way ahead of Honda. Also, though it may be the least power 150cc, the roll-on accelartion is the best in class.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Thanks Maninderz and Krishna. Your posts have strengthened my decision to go for the sz-rr.
Arnab, I have nothing against Hero. I somehow never liked the Ignitor or the Achiever. I do like the new Xtreme though but that's not within my budget.

I went to the showroom to book sz-rr but gave in to the temptation and booked an fz16 instead. Took delivery of the bike today.
