• Pulsar 135ls vs new Discover 150f

Hey guys I am going to buy my first bike this week.
I am 6 ft tall and weigh around 65-70 kg.
Usage- 20-30 km/day (in dwarka only)
Budget- Rs. 65-70 k (on-road not ex-showroom)
I need a sporty one and don't care much about the mileage.
So after a lot of comparison i narrowed it down to two bikes i.e. Bajaj Pulsar 135ls and the new Bajaj Discover 150f.

Name Pulsar 135ls Dicover 150f
Displacement 135cc 145cc
Max Power(Ps@Rpm) 13.56@9000 14.5@8500
Max Torque(Nm@Rpm) 11.4@7500 12.75@6500
Fuel delivery Fuel Injection Carburetor
Transmission Shaft drive Chain drive
Price(Rs.) 59,291 59,034

For full comparison read Compare Bajaj Discover 150F Standard vs Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS Standard - BikeWale

Which one of these should i buy?
Or is there a better bike than these two in terms of power and top speed?
If there is please suggest one.
And this is my first post so please don't be rude.

Don't worry nobody is going to be rude

Am not sure about the prices, but the 135LS is been there for some time while the discover 150 has just been launched. Most Bajaj products need time for them to be smoothed out. But then since the Discover series has been around for so long with many different versions it could be an old new bike. Sorry, but thinking about Discover invariably confuses me as well
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Hi Harsh, I'd suggest you P135. Best power to weight in class makes P135 attain 60 kmph earlier than even P150. Discover 150 is a powerful commuter but P135 can be termed as a little sports bike. It's there for some time so spares and maintenance won't be a problem.

Definitely go for the P135. I ave one and the feel of the bike is simply mind boggling. I have even defeated my own apache with my 135. Good handling as it as a lighter handle as compared to discover and also pulsar has three piece handle and discover has a single bar.

Lightweight body allows it to attain a good 115 kmph. that's more than you can ask from a bike in this range

Are you sure the p135 is fuel injected? As some one pointed out, I have read that P135 is being phased out so I would suggest the discover. Also look at sz-rr.

Pulsar 135LS is neither fuel injected nor shaft-driven. Just walk into a Bajaj showroom and see for yourself instead of referring to such useless websites for your research. Besides, the prices you mentioned are ex-showroom that you just pulled up from some website. If this is going to be your first bike, you had better do some more legwork than lazy couch-surfing.

Hi brother,
I agree to everything krishna77 sir said.
Also bajaj launches a new Discover every 2 months and old models are discontinued, this makes spare parts very difficult to find when you need them a few years later.

And as @prajwalkashyap sir said 135 ls is neither fuel injected nor shaft driven, also there are talks of 135 being discontinued, so that might be a problem.

I can suggest you a few alternatives to choose from.

Honda Stunner, Hero Ignitor - Both are 125 CC, smooth reliable engines, good fuel efficiency, look very sporty and cool, hero service centers are fairly good and spares parts are cheap, Honda service centers are pathetic and spares are a bit expensive.

Honda shine - 125 cc butter smooth engine, very reliable, good fuel efficiency, Honda service centers not good as usual, not sporty looking.

Yamaha SZR- cheapest 150 cc bike so you get a bigger engine which is very smooth and reliable,Superb build quality (not many things come close to Yamaha build quality and reliability), good fuel efficiency, looks sleek and neat, Service centers are good, maintenance and spare parts are fairly cheap.

I'd suggest you to visit each dealer ship, and test drive the bike, a 5 minutes test ride will tell you more about a bike than a month of reading online. The feel of the bike, the sound of the engine, how are the gear shifts, the brakes, the tires, the control in real life traffic etc etc. So please go to the showroom, take test rides and then choose the one that suits you the best. Feel free to ask any other question that comes to your mind. We're here to help.

Do tell us what you decide.
All the best.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

I own a D150-F. It's a pure commuter friendly bike which travels from point a to point b. If you want sporty riding, well...this is not the bike for you. P135 is a good bike overall but it would be phased out soon. If you are looking for a bike like P135, you can check the D150-S which exactly looks like D125 ST.

Do take these 3 bikes for a test ride & decide. All the best for you & your upcoming friend.

Ps: AFAIK only P220 fi came with fuel injection & no other bike came with shaft drive in bajaj stable. Don't relay on some websites.

Sorry brother like i told you my leg is fractured so i cant go down and snap some but i will try to get someone else to snap some for me.

And one more thing is Running In important.
Cause the manual's instructions are to not cross 50 kph in 5th gear until 2000 km on the odometer. Ain't that ridiculous ?

No problem! We'll be waiting!
Running in might seem a little ridiculous but that is very important for the engine and the bike for the long run. A proper running in gives you time to settle down slowly. It's like a marraige where you you give and take time to and from your partner(don't interprate it otherwise ).

Performance wise both the bikes will be same. Although the new discover comes with fairing, the pulsar sticker and color combo are always more attractive than that of discover's. Again p135 is be a good city commuter, fast and agile. But on highways you can have a better feel on discover since it has bigger displacement and fairing. Think of your needs and decide.
