  • Need help in selecting my next bike

    Hi
    My greetings to all x'bhpians

My name is Sharath and am from Bangalore. Currently located in Dharwad. Am new to this forum and this is my 1st post. Have been reading up on xbhp n other automotive forums from past 2-3years and I must say its an enriching experience. I am into motorcycling from past 11 years.
Am in a dilemma regarding selecting my next ride.
    I m 5'8 n I weigh 87kilos, aged 29. Did a TD of D200, D390, N300, R15 n CBR250. My budget is 2lakhs. So out goes the N300. I am confused regarding the other 3. And also would like to know upcoming bikes in 250cc category.
Requirements: mileage around 35, ability to cruise at 100-110kmph, lower maintenance, pillion comfort and ease of availability of spares will b an added bonus, my riding usually includes 75% city and 25% highways. Weekly usage of around 100-150kms in city and I tour once in 2-3months.
Past - 1 RE standard, RE machismo, Rx 135 5speed, HH Achiever, RE Electra. All sold.
Currently feeling orphaned without a bike :banghead:
Need help, opinions and suggestions ASAP. Looking forward to valuable inputs.

    Thank u.

CBR150r can cruise all day at 100-110. It's better for you than the R15 because of pillion comfort you ask for.
You should look at faired bikes for they are better at speeds more than 100.
Test ride the CBR 150r as it will give mileage around 35-40.

Also Since you have test ridden the duke family, why don't u check out the RC series. RC200 fits your budget while RC390 is value for money.
If you don't want the sporty stance then go with CBR250r. It's the best for touring.
      So many options for you

      CBR 150R - 2014-Present

Re: Need help in selecting my next bike

My vote would go for CBR250(ABS). Ample power and torque. Smooth engine. Capable tourer as well.
R15 V2.0 is the best bike under 150cc save the pillion seat. The pillion seat has ruined otherwise an almost perfect bike for it's class. Don't go for it if you are seeking pillion comfort.
Duke200/390 are very powerful machines but the crosswinds @ 100kmph+ might make you a little uncomfortable.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Cbr 150 is not worth the money!

Cbr 250 is the one that fits you bill & expectations. Rock solid, superb to ride.

Not as flickable as the R15s & dukes.

You might want to check out the RCs. More stable & planted than the Duke siblings.
Totally brilliant vehicles. Though you have to wait couple of weeks to get the TRs!

Inzuma too is a fantastic choice if only you can ignore its looks!
But it's not 'flickable' in the city!

Go take a test ride and see if you like it!

Re: Need help in selecting my next bike

If you want a bike right now Cbr 250r suits all your requirements.

If you can wait a few months, there are a lot of new bikes from bajaj(pulsar ss series), cbr 300, hero hx 250 etc.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Re: Need help in selecting my next bike

Hi, even I would like to go for Cbr 250r. I had been to Shantesha Honda and Nagshanti Honda in Hubli. They told me that it's not available off the shelf. Waiting period of 2 months, at the end of which they r not sure of delivering the same. And also at one of the showroom they told that there is no regular dispatch of Cbr 250s anymore as 300 is going to hit the market soon. Whatever that is being delivered is from the inventory.
And regarding Cbr 150r I m not interested. I think that R15 is a better bike anytime in 150cc category save for that pillion seat. Thinking of getting a bike in another 10days. Have also paid booking advance at KTM just to make sure that I get it as and when I require. I haven't specified any bike for that booking amount. Both duke twins r readily available.

Inazuma service is not available in Hubli.
