  • Bike or Scooter for daily commute?

    Hi All,

I have to commute a minimum 35kms daily for work. I am confused whether to go for a bike or a scooter. I currently own a discover 100. I am experiencing pains in my left hand whenever i ride it. And the seats are not comfortable. I am looking to exchange this for my new ride. My budget is 60k. I did some research and i have finalised a list.

    1. Hero Passion/Splendour series
    2. Honda Shine/Activa i/Aviator
    3. Tvs Wego/Jupiter

I have ruled out Bajaj , Yamaha and other manufacturers.

Will scooters be comfortable for a 35kms ride? I am more inclined towards scooters but dont know about the comfort levels.

I live in Hyderabad. Please suggest/help me

    Thank you!
    Sairam

I am not going to suggest you which manufacturer, but I'd offer some tips as to your usage. If you're the type who basically uses the vehicle for office commutes and carry back-home-baggage then I'd suggest a scooter would deem fit for the job.

On the other hand, if you consider a little sportiness in your average commute, you can consider a motorcycle. But again, if you're a man who often carries baggages, groceries and nitty gritty and want a good, relaxed and calmness oriented ride, then scooter is your best bet.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

Go for Yamaha Ray z or Honda Dio brother. If you need a spacious one, then go for Yamaha Ray alpha or Activa 125.

Jupiter, would be my humble suggestion. From the "very" short stint I had with the scooter, I can say it's one of the very few scooters that has this "big" feel factor.

          Cheers!

Hi VJ. Even without test riding, I feel that Jupiter is the one for me. However, my wife and my parents might need to use it occasionally. In which case jupiter is a bit heavy and for this reason I might go for a Wego or a Lets.

I just TDed Jupiter and Suzuki Lets. Both were really good, but I felt something is missing in Lets. Hence mostly going to go with Jupiter. The handling and ride comfort was good.

Lets is a good one. But is there any specific reason to exclude Yamaha? Because, Ray-Z would've been a very good choice for you. Else, you can opt for Aviator.

Re: Bike or Scooter for daily commute?

So the decision has been made. Its TVS Jupiter. Will book it on friday. I went to Honda , Suzuki showrooms. Surprisingly, Honda people were good. But the dampener was the waiting period - min 30 days! I didn't go for Suzuki because of its resale value. I didn't go for Yamaha because I don't like that style - headlamp position. On road for Jupiter with accessories is 61,195 INR here at hyderabad with accessories. Should I get front guard & rear guard? Are they necessary?

Congrats for your selection. Ride hard and safe.
Front and rear guards add to your safety. So, my advice would be to get them.
