  • Suggest a Scooter for ~55k

    Hi all

I'm looking for a scooter for daily use for 25+25 daily ride to office.
I presently own Suzuki Max 100R which i will keep it for local use as i cant let it rotten, moreover its still roaring like lion even at 18yrs old.

    now to my preferences:
    1. budget is 55k, +5k maximum
    2. mileage is big concern, 50kmpl+ on road(no claimed figures please)
    3. look is not a big deal as long as other features are met
    4. i use it for market visits and shopping
    5. road conditions are above average and no issue about it
    6. No activa please, as i'm tired with it seeing more on road
    7. my sister may use it at times
    8. i'm 6'2" tall and ~80kg
    9. half yearly trips for 100km+ rides
    10. and some better features for better riding

i checked TVS Jupiter, Yamaha Alpha, Ray Z.
i'm not good at evaluating a scooter just with test ride. so i hope everyone of you here put pros and cons of each bike and shortlist some 3-4 scooters from which i can choose one.

and i have authorized dealers for
    1. tvs
    2. honda
    3. mahindra
    4. hero
    5. suzuki
    6. bajaj(though i don't like the brand)
    7. yamaha

i'm from gobi, erode district. if possible quote me the on road prices too..!
Suzuki Max 100R, from the ashes like Phoenix..!

Jupiter from TVS is good, suspension is telescopic, helps a lot on bad roads, fairly good service centers.
Aviator from Honda, has smooth engine and is comfortable as well as easy to handle, pathetic service centers.
Mastero from Hero moto corp has a butter smooth engine, the seats are wide and comfy, hero service centers are good, cheap to maintain.
Yamaha ray and alpha have fresh new looks, Yamaha reliability and build quality, service is a bit expensive than the Indian companies(Hero, tvs).
Suzuki Access and Swiss have more powerful 125 cc engines, they are reliable, but the service centers are not as common to find as other companies.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

+1 to Jupiter - it is from the same TVS stable of your MAX 100. It is feature rich.
It has telescopic forks in the front with 12" tubeless tires in alloy wheels, which are the largest in the competition (all others offer 10" tires, though Aviator may be an exception). So ride and handling will be better.
Smooth engine, decent mileage. I have ridden TVS Wego, which has the same engine as Jupiter, the engine felt to be as refined as the Honda Activa.

Go with Alpha. Well suited for male riders. Add to it Yamaha engine and reliability. Suits your need very well.
Suzuki Access is another good scooter but Service Centers and spare parts may be an issue.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

thank you all for inputs people.
still i'm confused between TVS jupiter and Yamaha Alpha.
can someone quote real time mileage of both the scooters with their price tags.

here they are quoting 61k for Jupiter and 56k for Alpha.

Have a test ride for both of them. You'll be the best person to judge. And as far as price tag goes, It's between 60-62K for Jupiter and 56-58K for Alpha depending on the state and city.
