  • The Ultimate Dilemma. A ninja? or something else?

    Hello everyone,
I am Abhimeet, a college going student currently in Chandigarh but originally From Ambala. Last year around this time i was about to buy Ninja 300,had even booked it but due to a sudden financial problem i could not buy it. This year i am looking to finally buy a bike
    My choices are :-
    Kawasaki Ninja 300
    Ktm RC 390
Yamaha R25/R3 (will have to wait for it)
Kawasaki Ninja 650 (considering it but will it be practical in india?)

I know all these bikes are different and should not be compared but these are my choices.

    About me :-
    Age - 19
    Height - 5'9
    Weight - 75
Usage - 70% city 30% highway ( a monthly running of about 700 to 800 kms which includes a highway trip)
Budget - 4 lakhs but might be able to stretch for Ninja 650 if it seems worthy.
Dare to enter the uncharted territories!

There have been no indications that Yamaha R25/R3 will come to India in near future.
And also, if you buy a Ninja 300 now and R3 gets released in the near future, you won't be missing much as these are very similar configuration bikes.
      Go for the Ninja 300.

      Ride safe and have fun.

for your usage either of rc390/ninja 300 will do...

no point buying a 650 for city use and 700 km per month..
also you are just 19 mate.. start with 30-40 bhp and gradually upgrade after a few years...

on a side note : rc390 maintenence and upkeep will be cheaper also its more powerful.
if you have the budget.. get the N300 in ninja colours (green)

Re: The Ultimate Dilemma. A ninja? or something else?

I agree to all the three gentlemen above. My opinions are as follows :

          RC390 :
Pros : cheapest and powerful. Its single cylinder, easy to maintain, bajaj service, looker.

Cons : lots of power to be handled by a 19 yr old( not judging) but after seeing so many pics of RC crashes around, it feels like owners are not able to tame it. Riding position is too aggressive.

          Ninja 300

Pros : the name itself says it all. Top notch quality, Kawa reliability, good mid range for city use, sexy as hell.

Cons : expensive to buy, expensive to maintain.

R25/R3 : not sure when would it be launched here (if it is). Would do the same to N300 what Duke and RC did to CBR and R15.

On second thoughts, why don't you try R15 or CBR250. R15 loves corner, you can tour also, manageable power, looker.
CBR250 is a good tourer/ commuter. Low maintenance.

Given a choice between RC, Ninja and R25, my selection would be Ninja -> R25. Would not even consider RC.

Ninja 300 seems to be the obvious choice.
If I were you I'd get the Z250 though. It would be a better option for 70% city use.

Actually the comfort level is almost same on z250 and n300. I had a chance to sit on both bikes and except for the slightly straight seating position there was no much difference. The n300 is also more vfm (LOL VFM) compared to z250 as it has more power while z250 is the n250 with a higher price tag.

Yes, i feel Ninja 300 is more vfm as compared to z250 as stated by you

The thing with he Z250 is i love faired bikes. Yes it is a mini Z1000 and looks sexy as hell but i still want a faired bike.

I agree, RC is too brutal for me. Also it's styling puts me off. Too agressive for my taste

Yes, ninja seems the best bet for me. Also since childhood i have this fascination with the Ninja brand. It is the only brand that puts smile on my face

R25/R3 : not sure when would it be launched here (if it is). Would do the same to N300 what Duke and RC did to CBR and R15.

I already own a pulsar 220-fi. R15 seems a downgrade to me(these are my views, i agree r15 is much better than the pulsar but still)
Cbr does not excite me enough. Does not feel much of an upgrade(again my views)

Given a choice between RC, Ninja and R25, my selection would be Ninja -> R25. Would not even consider RC.

That was what i was wondering. N650 is just not meant for me

I have the budget. And yes it will be green if i go for ninja. Green symbolizes ninja.

Thank you for your suggestion. I was just considering R3 because it makes 3 bhp more than N300 from what i read
                .

Jacket and gloves are good.. But you can do with better helmet. Not many positive reviews for kyt helmets.
Have a look at MT helmets, range from ₹4-5k. They are good.

About genuine ls2 sold on flipkart, i can't say for sure. As for MT helmets, you can buy them from spartanprogear.com. contact them and they will let you know the procedure.
