Hai friends,
hope all are doing well.First of all introducing myself -Sreenath from Kerala.A biking enthusiast ofcourse. But not so experienced.I have a scooter (Honda Aviator).Used to ride it even for a timepass !!! Bcoz the scooter is absolute a pure bliss.Engine refinement & build quality -still top notch evn after 5 years of usage..eventhough FE is a bit let down(tat I dont care)..Hatz off to Honda's engineering..

Now thinking to switch to a perfomance bike.I used to ride friends & cousins bike, tat too very rare to say.so Infact dnt have that much experience but is okay.I have shortlisted few

1) Honda Cbr 150 (ofcourse for reason mentioned before)

2)Yamaha R15 (The machine I am really interested to go for)

3)Duke 200 (Dnt have tat much idea,;but often seen ppl flying in tat bike making huge noise ,but have a killer luks)

4) Yamaha Fazer Fi (Have a faired looks & fuel injection, cheap too )

These are my research findings of each product ...

R15- I actually prefer R15 for everything it provides, but certain visible flaws pulling me back. One is the riding posture ,everybody knows it ;Hrd many complang abt wrist pain and back pain..& Pillion seat too.Seems like impractical tat too in this budget ???

Cbr 150..Ofcourse a good bike with decent FE. But high price tag & less features is the main flaw.. certain ppl complng abt low end torque too..as I have to ride in city traffic, will it pose a problem..???

Duke 200..Have a killer looks and perfomance..But hrd tat maintenance is too costly ??? Evn hrd of utmost care should be given for quality of petrol else engine get damage ???

Yamaha Fazer - Cheapest of all..Fuel injection.. Not tat much impressed but okay..

So watz ur opinion guys .. Is there any other option which I should consider.. Fuel efficiency I am not considering tat much..but perfomance & looks & handling (for amateur rider) & refinement & quality...

Love faired bikes, go for R15.
Love naked, get Duke 200.
As simple as that.

Too much of unknown words (slang), makes it very difficult to read.
Duke 200 is more appropriate for Kerala terrain.
O
The bikes are very smart, but it's still up to you to keep the rubber side down.

Ok sreenath26.

R15 is very uncomfortable if your going in traffic and the pillion seat doesn't help matters.

Cbr150 is a bad decision any way you look at it. It has big bike looks but the engine fails to deliver on that front. It rides like a supped up unicorn.

Duke 200 has a straight riding posture which is good for city riding, wide handlebars for amazing control and is the most powerful of the lot. Pillion seat is a bit hard though and small. But flickability in traffic is good and the power will take the strain away from riding.

Fzs v2 is cheap with good looks but the engine is detuned so the crisp throttle response means nothing. Its the be slowest of the lot and I personally would not prefer it, but it has the widest tyres of any 150cc in the country offering great handling and wide handlebars too just like the duke. The pillion seat is also more comfortable of the lot.
The Hero karizma has comfortable seats but handlebars are lowered and that puts a lot of strain on your back while riding. All else is good and its powerful too (not as powerful as the duke)

Based on this you can make your decision.

You can Also Add Hero Karizma ZMR in your list.
My advice- Dont go for CBR 150(it has nothing, which justifies its price tag).

I second what Mr.Sambit tells you.It is Overpriced and has nothing ! If you want performance with a Small 2-Stroke Thrill feeling,Close your Eyes and go get the Duke 200 (Personally,I hate the Duke 200,It looks awkward).I also recommend you to look at the TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS which is an Awesome Bike.

The reason I am suggesting the TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS is

1) It is much more cheaper than the Duke 200,R15 and the CBR 150R
2) Beats the R15,CBR 150R,Fazer FI very easily in both Traffic and Highways
3) It has only 10% lesser Performance than the Duke 200 but is priced 30% Lower (Has no Flaws like Cut-Rims or Over-heating Engine like Duke especially at the City)
4) Awesome Handling
5) Many Born-in-the-race-track Features - 0-60 Timer,Top-Speed Recorder,5-4-3-2-1 GO Timer,Analogue RPM and Digi Speedo,ABS and Rear-wheel-Lift Protection
6) ABS - A Life-saving Feauture
7) Beautiful Exhaust Engine Note (Like a Mini RE) that loves to be revved up hard !
8) Has got better Mileage in City and Highways (Expect more than 35 Kmpl even if driven Hard)
9) Has cheaper Maintainence and Cheaper Spares (Fun with low Costs is definitely 1 Stone,2 Mangoes !)
10) Wide TVS A.S.S and many Trouble-free Ownership (Fiero Engine-Tested and Proven on the Race-Track)

Thanks

Sorry guys for my unclear type of writing as this is my first post here... I would try to improve next time.. Now coming to point , I am now thinking of buying Yamaha r15 itself..the bike looks pretty good for me ... But as I am a new bee , would this type of sports bike create issue in riding? Tat too in heavy traffic conditions... I have hrd tat front part is where majority of weight have been concentrated,so there is a great chance for wrist pain while handling it.. WatS ur opinion guysss.. Now the second option I am considering is hero xtreme sports wch is recently launched..

Duke I have avoided due to maintenance issues.. Bajaj and TVS not Interesred..

If you want the daily commute and a bit of the power like say for a weekend drive or just zooming off to the highway, I would recommend Pulsar200 NS. In terms of power it is equal to duke, gives a mileage of around 40, looks great and handles better. Best of all it comes under 1Lakh

But if you have already made up ur mind not to take anything from bajaj and tvs, go fo R15.

You seem to have your heart set on the R15. Being the owner of a R15, I can give you the pros and cons.

* First up is the engine, very very smooth, robust and reliable.
* Handling - I have been riding for 9 years and nothing comes close to a R15 in terms of handling. You'll forget anything you have ever ridden.
* fit, finish and build quality - top notch, very few companies give the quality and finish equal to Yamaha.
* It it very very stable at high speeds, very planted even at 100+.
* very good and grippy semi slick tyres, which give superior grip on dry as well as wet roads.

as for the wrist pain is concerned, yes the wrists do pain for a few days in the beginning, but as you get used to the sporty riding posture and get your stance right, wrists does not pain.
It all depends on how quickly you adopt the new riding posture. So if you have don't have a history of back pain and you are in good shape then go for it, else opt for more upright seating bikes.

Many people have done 5000kms leh trip on R15s and did'nt complain about wrist or back pain. And on the other hand some people complain about pain in just 3 kms of short ride. so it all depends on the correct seating posture.

As for riding in city, once you get used to it, its no harder to zip through traffic than a splendor.
Take test rides and then decide.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Summed up nicely... I too had R15 V1 and planning to get V2. Nothing beats the handling ability of R15 till date.

If you mostly ride alone, R15 any day. The main negative point is the impractical pillion seat. Also, as already mentioned in the thread, people have gone on very long distance tours on a R15 and have come back happily. FZ2.0 should be a better choice than FAZER2.0 for city traffic. I am not praising any brand here but nothing beats a Yamaha as far as handling and performance goes.
Else, you can opt for any one amongst the Karizma twins depending upon your liking of fairings. Both have sufficient power and comfort.
IMO, CBR150 doesn't offer what the price tag asks for.
Duke if you prefer raw power and adrenalin rush. Light and quick - but suspect to wind-blasts due to the lightweight. Here also, the pillion seat is a little shorter than what it should've been.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.
