  • Which bike ?

Before i start , I am posting this on behalf of one of my close friends.
I already own the R15 and one of my other friend a CBR ,we had a pact that all of us in our friends circle will have different rides. So we went about rounding up on the different bikes that were left out.
    His main requirements -
    1. Most amount of city usage , so a bike with good amount of torque at the lower revs will do a lot of good.
    2. Vibe free ride is another important point.
    3. A decent fe of around the 30-40 kmpl mark.
    4. To him he says , the engine sound matters a lot. AFAIK he feeels the duke engine sound to be a bit on the harsher side.
    5. Trouble free maintenance. Average period of usage will be around 5-6 years, quality matters a lot.
    6. Max 1.5 lakhs budget.

I suggested the Duke 200 and Apache rtr 180 abs considering the class leading performance. This guy is not a cornering junkie. So i felt the R15 capabilities will be underutilized. We are also looking forward to the 200SS. Any info about how good the new ZMR is? Also please suggest the other alternatives and also the pros and cons of the shortlisted ones.. Do conisder the r15 and the baby cbr in your comparisons.

    Cheers.

    Query Approved

Just because you guys already own certain models, don't make your friend lose out on something he likes

The only bike which i can think of is the R15 though it does not have a lot of city friendly bottom end torque.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

R15 should be a good choice. But, the pillion seat is a concern(you already know it).
The other bikes I can think about are P200 and Karizma siblings. Karizma siblings are there for long enough. Though personally I prefer the older versions. P200, on the other hand, is one of the best best VFM bikes along with Apache 180R.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Speaking from my ownership experience of the 200NS (~25,000KM, 2 years)
        1. P220 has more low end torque as compared to the NS, But the NS is fun within the city and the handling is better than the 220
        2. Vibrations are there, after all it is a Bajaj product
        3. I got a FE of 38-40most of the time
        4. NS sounds harsher than the D200, but you might grow to like it
        5. Trouble free - Depends on where you get your bike serviced. I have had to go back a few times to get some small issues sorted out 1-2 days after my service. Service is cheap.
        6. NS fits the budget

From my experience, I would not call the NS a quality product (at least my Aug 2012 model isn't - do not know if later models have improved)
TVS Eurogrip tyres have had complaints, but are good for day to day riding. I am still using stock tyres and plan to upgrade to MRFs now
You will have hassles at the service center who want to tune your bike for FE like a commuter

But on a good day, the kick you get when the revs cross 7k will make you forget about all the above troubles
