Gearless Scooter for my next 20 years!!!

First i don't know it is possible to keep a scooter for 20 years.... I have Discover 125 for last 9 years....

If maintained regularly i think it is possible... Its only for city commuting but always with pillion rider... Maintenance and service cost maximum Rs 2000 - 3000 yearly..

I mind the below models... budget 60-70k

    1) Activa 125 Disc (For its well named, tuned "HONDA" engine & metal body)

    2) TVS Wego (I never used so no comments; but i saw good reviews about wego)

    3) Vespa (a bit pricey, but again "DUCATI" in scooter segment)

    Users and experts suggest me....

20 years is a looooong time

A new vehicle gets a 15 year fitness certificate after which it has to be renewed at the RTO. With the recent rule in Delhi of banning 15 year old vehicles, expect the same to be applied in the rest of the country as well.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

IF keeping a scooter for 20years is the highest on your priority list. Buy something that is sold in fairly large numbers to have peace of mind regarding spares availability even if the production is stopped. Another thing to consider is that a metal body is easier to maintain than any composite or plastic panel when hit.

Honda Activa and TVS Wego have metal body...

Which one have the better and longer engine life??

Which one have the least maintenance cost & care???

And, I have to exchange my Hero pleasure for my new scooter.. Is it possible?

You'll see a handful of new scooters by March 2015
Activa and Wego have very smooth engines. Wego will have better ride quality due to its bike-like front forks.
Both will be reliable for long term ownership.
Regarding exchanging your scooter - Many showrooms have exchange schemes in place throughout the year.
TVS guys would be giving you better offer/consideration with exchange I think.

Re: Gearless Scooter for my next 20 years!!!

In many parts of our country, Activa and gearless scooter is synonymous. Such is the popularity and effectiveness of Activa and rightly so. If not for 20 years, you can expect it to last for 10 years if maintained regularly.
Vespa is no doubt a class apart but is not made for two-up rides on a regular basis. Also maintenance cost is on the higher side.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

I went to the TVS Showroom to ask for the On-road, they told 58000 for jupiter and 59000 for wego.

TVS dropped the production of Disc brake wegos due to complaint rise from many customers i.e., skid issues

yes... you are right... so many activa's in the street.. so i opt for wego or jupiter for a change!!!

In Jupiter front body - plastic and back body - metal but wego - all metal body...

                    Sir,

Wego is a good choice but a more powerful Suzuki Swish 125 or Access 125 would suit you more. The comfort and easiness to ride is more and returns a good mileage too. And suzuki products last a century too

                    Thanks!
