I own pulsar 200ns and my personal and user experiences over here say that 200ns is a good long term option. Duke is better in terms of reliability but ns is VFM.

I don't think that duke is that much better to wait for months for it. I too faced the same dilemma and went for ns. I don't regret it and you can go for it definitely.

so many issues are reported here in duke seems contradict ur statment...and ns has one major flaw ie fueling..and duke is VERY different in feel ergos power delivery chasis suspension almost everything....and if budget is as issue so thread starter should get ns and spend remaining on GOOOD QUALITY GEARS period...

Regarding what you said, ronitgandhi24, I'm pretty sure both the Duke and 200NS are well-sorted out machines. They are both at a stage where all the major niggles have been sorted out. The Duke is definitely different in terms of power delivery, chassis and whatnot. Budget would not be an issue in some months time. Would you recommend the wait?

I stood in the same shoes , from dec 14' i was thinking of P220f , P200ns or the upcoming P200ss .

My budget was initially 1 to 1.2 lac.
Feb 15 I took the testdrive of duke 200 and then in the next 5 minutes got the 200ns testdrive. Maaan , duke 200 is one helllll of a machine,
Decided duke 200 straight out and started preparing funds.I will be making the payment and getting the duke 200 next week.
If your heart goes for duke 200 , dont hesitate, wait and buy it. I understand your state of confusion. Just go through more threads or ask senior members here.

I would say if u are not in a hurry so u must wait as few new bikes might launch and bike is long term investment so get the one which gives satisfaction....regarding duke vs ns ..I find duke more attractive nimble better in every way than a ns ....moreover new 150ns would kill exclusive ness of ns and it would become just another pulsar......

I agree completely. Pulsar 200ss is about to launch at march end with ABS and FI version.

My suggestion is to go for the ZMR or NS. Both these have smooth engines, tall gearing for cruising and are decent to ride in the city also. I have not ridden the 2014 Pulsar 220, so can't comment on it. I had ridden a 2010 P220 on a tour once and felt it was planted at high speeds. Seating posture was also comfortable. But I could feel loss of refinement at speeds above 90kmph. But then of course this was a 4 year old P220 I was riding. I have ridden the Duke 200 plenty of times. Trust me, it is does not seem as relaxed as the 200NS at high speeds (due to shorter gearing). Like someone mentioned here, both these bikes have their own set of issues. If your touring adventures include some off roading, forget the Duke. Alloys will crack on hard impact (Most other bikes can take the same impact). However, the performance of Duke is adrenaline pumping and also corners very well. But in my opinion, Duke 200 is less suitable for highway rides due its exhaust note which can get irritating after a while (subjective). But people have done good amount of touring on it. You should be able to live with the small (and big ) niggles of the Duke 200 (Refer ownership thread). Else as I said earlier, go for the ZMR which has a proven engine for reliability or the 200NS which is a VFM product.

I agree with the short gearing of the Duke, but wasn't aware of the alloy breakage. Thanks for that. The number of reported instances are not enough to indicate a trend, but it is still a tad worrisome.

As for the ZMR, I did test ride it and did not find it comfortable.

bro short gearing is what differentiates duke...it has its own benefits ...bro just td duke once if you havent done yet...zmr is bit outdated....

Alright, quick update!

Last week I went and test rode the Enfields after popular demand. Still, I went with an open mind, ready to be blown away. So off I went to the showroom. On Gudi Padwa. In the middle of a hot Saturday afternoon.

Yeah..that turned out to be both stupid and smart. Stupid because I couldn't test the full power of the bikes, and smart because I got a good idea how it would be to ride the Enfields in an almost-worst-case-scenario: blistering heat, dense humidity, small roads with all kinds of vehicles zipping past.

Long story short, the Enfields didn't pass. The Thunderbird was a good ride, but the Classic was somehow unrideable. Could be my fault, or could be a lack of synergy between me and the bikes. Walked out with a clear understanding; I cannot connect with the Enfields, not right now anyway.

What I have connected with, is the P200NS. I was momentarily swayed towards the Duke, but the NS has always been in mind my every since it launched. In fact, it was this bike that made me even consider getting into the motorcycling world. A number of bikes have come and gone in my list: ZMR, P220, Duke 200, but the P200NS has prevailed: a perfect blend of heart and mind, fun and practicality, thrills and...oh, you get the point!

I'll likely be making the payment this Saturday, or some time very soon. Thank you everyone for your wonderful inputs!

The 200NS is a really good bike to opt for, or if you wait and want a faired bike go for the RS launching tomorrow, though the power and output are expected to be the same. I have owned the 200NS for over 2 years, 25k kms on it, I know not a lot, but I still love the bike for it's amazing power, reliability(because the problems it has given me can be counted on fingers of one hand :P ) which is not a lot. Go for the bike, you won't regret it

I would bet my money on 200NS. It's the best one you can have within your budget range. However RS200 will give u advantage in being faired and reducing the wind blast that generally occurs with naked bikes. The Fi version with ABS sounds good and there shouldn't be much problem with the buke as it borrows the engine from NS .

Long story short both NS and RS are good. If you want long touring eventually you need some mods in NS like an custom windscreen and handle bar guards. RS will be better as its fully faired and has Fi and ABS.
