  • KTM Duke or Yamaha R15 V2.0? Please Help!

Hi I'm 25 years old and i'm 5'8" in height and about 86 kgs. I'm planning to buy a bike for a budget of 1.5 lakhs. I've selected 2 bikes.

    1)KTM Duke 200
    2) Yamaha Yzf-R15 V2.0

I wanted to know which of these two bikes is best for me. First of all I'm a novice rider. Never ridden a geared motorcycle in my life. Well maybe on or two very short rides. I want to be able to commute 70 km both ways and do some touring with friends once in a while. So which of these two would bike would serve these purposes and look good while doing it. And I want to buy the bike before this christmas.Hi I'm 25 years old and i'm 5'8" in height and about 86 kgs. I'm planning to buy a bike for a budget of 1.5 lakhs. I've selected 2 bikes.

    Topic Approved.

We normally don't suggest either of these bikes to a novice rider, but still, if you want it for a longer term, the Duke 200 should be more suitable for you.

R15 has a rigid chassis, peaky engine and quite sporty riding position. It will reward the experienced riders the most, while the novice or casual rider may not benefit much from owning an R15, mostly due to its peaky engine.
I've ridden the R15 and although its a lovly piece of machinery, its not for the new.

And for obvious reasons, R15 will most probably invite a bigger bill, should it fall or crash, compared to Duke 200.

Both the bikes can handle moderate speed touring very well, the R15's riding position can be tiring though. So, Duke is better here.

Years later, when you understand sports riding better, and you love track racing, then you would do great to choose the legend called YZF-R15... not now. not today.

    Happy Duking!

Hey i was also in this confusion and then i opted for the duke.
      1. Duke's seating position is very nice compared to r15 as you have to lean a bit in r14.
      2. Duke is a light weight bike so for a novice its the best.
3.All the parts are acailable and are pocket friendly.
4.go out for a ride in both r15 and the duke, the duke will be the more eye catching. For the first month i was asked by many people in traffic signal that where is the silencer, wats the price, konsa company he n ol.

I hope this helped you duke is my first bike and i am happy with my decisions as many r15 owner told me wish they boyght a duke.

Yeah I went and test rode both. The R15 proved to be a pain in my palms. They actually became red. When rode the duke it was much more comfortable. The Gear indicator is a very useful touch atleast for a rider like me. I already booked a white duke.
