  • Which bike i have to BUY? FAZER/HONDA CBR/PULSAR

    Hi Bike Enthusiastic's.
I would like to buy brand new Bike below are my requirements (Price Not a Matter).

    Priorities
    1.Performance
2.Good Condition for long term / No Vibration
    3.Better Look(Sporty)
4.Usage: Both Street and Highways equally (I will ride long distance in Highways monthly once round trip(Chennai-Trichy-NH)
5.Spares Availability, performance of brakes and tires.
6.Mileage: Average enough (Adjustable based on Bike Selection)

These are my priorities and i mostly like Yamaha bikes last time i rode Yamaha FZ so i eager to buy YAMAHA FAZER FI V2 still confused whether i will go other brand In HONDA CBR150 or Pulsar Bikes. I heard through my friends pulsar bikes are giving vibration after 1 year full use, is it true?

Friends please suggest me a good bike that fulfill my requirements also welcome your comments and advice about FAZER and HONDA CBR150. In matter of price i will go Pulsar because its cheap compare to other 2 brand please clarify me my opinion about pulsar bikes.

    Thanks

    Arun

    Query Approved

You can check out the Suzuki Gixxer 155 and its recently spied faired version. It will be good competition for the FZ and Fazer.

Since you wouldn't want vibrations in your bikes, i won't recommend a TVS or a Bajaj, even though i like both!!!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Fazer/FZ v2.0 are good choices. Vibe free ride and smooth engines.
The Gixxer has got positive reviews as well. It's a new model so exclusiveness is there.
You can also check out the Karizma R as it is higher in the power dept. despite not loosing on quality. Add to that easy availability of spares.

Suzuki Gixxer is new model so still reviews needed about conditions and performance. So still i m stick with FAZER to buy.

        Guys more suggestions are welcome.

I understand your concern about the Gixxer being a new model, but as far as i have seen Suzuki products are very reliable and well built. If you have a good service centre go for the Gixxer (decide after a test ride). Fazer is a good motorcycle but considering your long stints between chennai and trichy, remember that you will have restricted cruising speed on the FZ/Fazer (about 80-85 kmph max). The Gixxer is slightly better for cruising is what I observe from ownership reviews. Both these bikes will give you almost similar fuel efficiency, say about 45kmpl. Both are vibe free. Both bikes handle well as far as the reviews go. I have ridden FZ plenty of times so I can confidently say the bike is very comfortable, stable and handles well.

If your driving is mostly around city, I suggest you stay away from CBR 150 or R15 based on my experience. Both of them don't have the low end torque required for city commutes. Particularly the CBR is pathetic at lower rpms. In that way R15 is better. On highways both these machines are fantastic cruisers. Remember that you must get used to the sporty posture. Both will cruise at 100-110kmph easily. Fuel efficiency will be around 45kmpl again. Both are vibe free. Yamaha service is average from what I have heard, can't say for sure. Honda spares are on the higher side but you shouldn't have a problem if you are a careful rider. Both the bikes are great in terms of handling.

The 200NS is a great bike that could suit your requirements. Great highway cruiser and good enough in city. Vibrations have been reported but I believe it is not in the region of the other air cooled pulsars. FE is between 40-45kmpl. Better read the ownership thread for further clarifications. Can't comments much as I have not ridden one. If price isn't a problem, you can take a look at the Duke 200 too. Great for city use and does fairly well on highways though the engine feels slightly stressed at higher speeds. However, constant start stop traffic will lead to a lot of heat from the engine. If you are on the move continuously, not a big problem. FE is low compared to the NS, say about 35-40kmpl (Can be better if ridden sanely). But remember service and spares are on the higher side. Refer the Duke thread for prices. And yes there are slight vibes at higher speeds.

If you feel the Karizma R/ZMR 2014 looks aren't that bad, you could have a look at them. I ride a 2012 Karizma R. When I took a test ride on the new 2014 model (R version) I observed that the seating posture is very comfortable (owing to clip on handle bar) which would be nice on long stints. But the engine has become gruff now and the exhaust note is different(Nice actually). I have no idea if there are vibrations at higher speeds since I could not take it above 60kmph. The engine felt relaxed though. I can't comment anything more on this bike.

Re: Which bike i have to BUY? FAZER/HONDA CBR/PULSAR

CBR150 will cost you around 1.5 lakhs where as Fazer v2 and Gixxer both costs less.
But CBR will be good for highways and is powerful than Gixxer and Fazer/FZ.
Among Gixxer and Fazer, I would suggest you to go with Gixxer as its better in terms of power and looks.

So your selection should be CBR>Gixxer>Fazer

BTW did you give 200NS a try? Its better of the lot and less in vibrations as compared to other Pulsars.

You can wait for it (GSX150R) but I believe it will be priced around 1L. It is believed to have a liquid cooled engine to compete with the R15 and CBR150R. So it is not related to the Gixxer 155 at all. The specifications are unclear at this point of time. I suppose it will take some time for the bike to arrive at showrooms but could be worth the wait. Even if you don't like it you can always get the Fazer. But like I told you with Fazer you will definitely suffer from restricted speed. I have done Chennai to Madurai a couple of times on my Karizma. Trust me 110kmph was not enough. It will get boring on open highways to keep riding at 80kmph on a Fazer. Of course if you are not a speed junkie then Fazer will be fantastic for touring. Also it gets FI now so you can expect better fuel efficiency. Note that the old 153cc carburettor version is also available. Actually the Gixxer is much quicker to 100kmph than the Fazer. The new Fazer with FI has only 13.1bhp which is not a very bad thing but the Gixxer is much better in terms of acceleration and cruising speed.

And about the Japanese vs domestic bikes. Most of our domestic bikes are based on Japanese technology actually. All Hero bikes so far use Honda engines. TVS Apache engines are derived from Suzuki Fiero. Pulsar NS is based on Duke(Austrian). Nothing wrong in liking Japanese bikes but throwing out other options out of the window just because they are domestic would be wrong.

I think faired gixxer may not have Fi and liquid cooling... just body modification using same engine

Fazer is a little bit tough to ride in the City because of the Front Fairing Weight. You can look for the TVS Apache RTR 160/180 which has more power than the Above mentioned bikes.

                              Hello,

Do not jump to conclusion without actually riding a bike. Do not wait for the uncertain gsx150r if you need it within 1st week of january. Also, you can try pulsar 200 ns which will be cheap o your pocket. The vibrations discussed in these forums are not a big deal and its completely bearable. But what you must consider is its build quality which I personally am not satisfied with. You can get an apache if its going to be your first bike as it has very good power and stability for city and highways. Do not worry about the cruising ability due to the lack of fairing. Both these bikes can be fitted with a windshield which will not cost much. Also I suggest these two because they pack performance with a very competitive price You can be worry free if you're using these spares as they're available almost in every town and cheap too. If youre still inclined towards japanese bikes then try cbr250r or ninja 250 or 300. I would like you to see thunderbird 350/500 or bajaj avenger/pulsar 220F if you're touring 500+ km.

                              Thanks.
