  • Good time to buy a N300?

Wanted to buy a N300 in January. Delivery time is 2 weeks. But am not sure of buying a 300cc bike priced at 4 L as:
    1. Considering Yamaha and Honda are primed to launch a 300cc bike, should I wait for them or go for the N300?
    2. Already have a D390. Cannot upgrade to a bike above 4 L. Any other bike I can consider in that range? The resale value of Duke has taken a dive post the launch of RC. Need to sell the bike before I spend 8000 on the tires.
There is no better therapy than riding a bike down a straight road at full throttle with the sound of the engine for company.

    Query Approved

Since you already have the D390 it would be wise to wait for a couple of months to see if Honda or Yamaha has planned anything special.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

If I were you, I would wait.

      I'm doing the same thing.

I was about to book N300 last week but then news came of Yamaha training dealers for R25. Waiting for more news on R25 as it may be priced between 2.5 - 3lakhs

Postponed my purchase for 3-4 months.

Re: Good time to buy a N300?

Would the R25 be a better performing bike than the N300? I guess the 1L price premium is a big factor. I have spent an eternity waiting for the bigger R and have floundered with the D390 in the interim.
To confirm the rumors, Called up a dealer and he said there is no training going on. He said no new bike until April or May! That too he is not sure.

Re: Good time to buy a N300?

Nobody knows when the R25 or CBR300 will be launched... So no point in waiting, N300 is in no way inferior to R25 or CBR300.

              But do you think R25 / CBR300 / N300 is a worthy upgrade to Duke 390. ??

N300 was available even when you would have purchased D390, so why not then, and why now...??

R25 might be slightly cheaper than N300 but N300 has got 50 more CC's.

And CBR300 is a much different machine than N300.

Check online reviews and then decide wisely.

Me too think so, If you already have D390 you can wait for R25 or CBR300, but I don't think so they going to come before next year end...

Re: Good time to buy a N300?

Neither of the bikes (Ninja 300 and R25/R3) can be called as upgrade to Duke 390.
If you really want to upgrade to a more powerful bike, try to get Ninja 650.
Or if you simple want to have a twin, get Ninja 300. There isn't any timeline on release of CBR300 or R25/R3. I don't think one should wait for the bikes on which we don't even know whether they would be released here or not.

                    Ride safe and have fun.

Re: Good time to buy a N300?

The D390 does give me a lot of problems. Find myself at the SVC after every 2 weeks. Bad fuel has screwed up the bike I believe. Have changed almost every part the fuel runs through!
I agree that N300 might not be an upgrade power wise from a D390.
But reliability and quality wise N300 should be an upgrade? And N300 runs a low compression ratio, so fuel should not screw up the bike.
The N650 is out of the question because
                      a. I do not like the looks of the bike b. It is near to 6 lakhs which is way off my budget.

I did not buy the N300 earlier simply because I did not have the money. But have got some refunds from here and there and saved over the past few months, so find myself in a position to get the N300. But rumors of R25/R3 have put me in a dilemma. Have loved Yamaha from my R15 days - the quality and make of the bike was par excellence. Am not sure if Ninja matches up to that with the price tag it comes with..

visit to the SVC after every two weeks is too much. Kawasaki's have a good built quality If i were in your situation i would have voted for peace of mind.If you dont want to wait go for ninja

N300 and other Ninjas have its own share of issues when it comes to parts sourcing. These bikes are left in SVC for months awaiting parts. Check the forum for reviews and issues about Ninjas and SVC response time. I think Yamaha scores better than KTM and Kawasaki in this. Yamaha is already late to the quarter liter party, I don't think it will take too long for R25 to enter our shores.

Who told you this buddy? Are you an owner? I am an owner, and trust me regular service spares are readily available. Only when you are involved in an accident they take time to order the parts and install them. That also does not take more time.

I get spares for regular service quite easily. Only when the right fairing got damaged, I had to wait for 1 week to get it. On the other hand when the chain adjuster broke on my bike due to misaligned tyre during installation, they had that readily available.

Spares like indicators too you get easily.

Let the owners speak about the availability of spares.

Ninja 300 does have better quality and refinement than the D390. However, for someone who has an eye for details you can still find lot of rough edges. For example, the indicators, speedometer, headlamps fog up during rains. The fitting of the side fairing has uneven gaps at few places.

I would say wait for the R25, as dealer folks have started receiving training for the same.
