  • Seeking upgrade from Bullet

Hello everybody. I've been a long time lurker, recently registered.

A quick intro: I'm from Bangalore, and have been riding for the past 18 years. I've owned a yezdi, RXG 135 and 2 bullets. My current ride is a 1972 bullet.

    I'm 5'11 weighing 90kgs.

    My requirements:
    1. More comfort for me and pillion
    2. More power
    3. Will be used for daily commute
    4. Occasional weekend short trips with pillion.
    5. Max budget 5.5 Lakh

    Options considered :
    1. HD Street 750 - rejected, too small , had cramps in the hips in city traffic. Fine on the highway.
    2. Inazuma - rejected, all good except it is being discontinued. Unsure of future.
    3. Duke 200/390 - rejected, zero pillion comfort

    Help please!

for 5.5 L given your height and build and comfort... N650 is all that sums up perfectly.....

power , comfort , pillion comfort , daily commute , short-long trips and good FE....

Perfect Upgrade from Bullet --> The Triumph Bonnie. Suits your budget and need quite well.

        Have a look at it.

          +1 for Ninja 650.
it checks all your requirements. A complete package.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Both the Bonnie and N650 are very good choices. Where the N650 offers a more sporty ride, the Bonnie is a old school cruiser with very good pillion comfort.

              Re: Seeking upgrade from Bullet

Thanks for your suggestions guys. I'm not too keen on a faired bike which is why I hadnt considered the ninja 650. Besides I think it costs closer to 6 lakh on road. I have a hard limit of 5 lakh already stretched to 5.5 to accommodate the street 750.

The bonnie would've been the perfect bike if only for the on road price which is closer to 7 lakh if I'm not wrong. I really cannot go above my ready-to-burst budget limit.

I'm warming up to the street 750 once again. I had hired the bike for a day here in Bangalore. I rode it across the city in peak traffic and also took it on a 120 km trip on the highway. It was an amazing ride.

Only after 2 hours of the city ride did I start developing a cramping pain in my left hip joint. I suspect this was due to the bumper to bumper traffic and having to crawl and use my legs a lot, since on the highway ride I had no pain absolutely.

Maybe there's an issue with my technique and the position of the foot pegs. Could the tallboy seat from Harley reduce the discomfort in the city. Have any of the street 750 owners upgraded the seat to OEM or third party options?

Partly because I was so impressed after my test ride and partly because there's nothing else in the market, and partly because the heart won over the mind, I booked the Bonneville today!

                  Re: Seeking upgrade from Bullet

Seeing that you have eliminated the above mentioned bikes, I can only suggest the Kawasaki ER-6N (Naked version of the Ninja 650R). It should cost a little above 5.5 lacs maybe but will be the perfect power commuter you need with all your requirements fulfilled. It fairs well on the highway too except for wind blast. But I think you can manage since your trips are occasional or get an after market visor.

Like you said, sadly there aren\'t many (or no) high powered commuters in our Indian market.

See I told you The perfect\\\"upgrade\\\" that can satisfy a Bullet owner is a Bonneville. Nothing else comes close. The next is Iron 883 costing a good 1.2L+ over the bonnie (I think). Bonnie, to me, feels like an extension of the bullets line of thought. It\\\'s a great choice. Happy days ahead.

                    regards,

Unfortunately there was no way for me to validate that as Kawasaki does not offer test rides.
Thanks for your suggestions however, I guess you missed my previous post. I have now booked the Bonneville.
