Re: Please help me to choose my first bike....

I asked ktm showroom executive, is there any problems like Oil leakage, chains getting loose ,sudden off of engine and he replied it depends on how rider rides it...,.

What does he mean "how rider rides it" ?

The more harsh one rides, the more he spends on maintenance. It's normal wear and tear. Since KTMs are high performance mills by Indian standards (read commuters), one might think it's high on maintenance.

Sent from my phone. Kindly avoid it while riding.

Most initial niggles in the D200 have been solved. As it is a bike in production for more than 2 years, there will be continuos improvements in quality and refinement.
As far as city riding goes, D200 is an agile bike with short handle bars and not a high revving bike. It produces its max. torque at low RPMs and can do 40 speeds in 6th gear. It does not heat up as much as the 390. Spare parts are inexpensive and it is fun to ride!
There is no better therapy than riding a bike down a straight road at full throttle with the sound of the engine for company.

Are you kidding me bro? Its redlines at about 11k rpm, peak power comes at 10000rpm and peak torque at 8000 rpm. It has a very short stroke of 49mm (Bore 72mm). The reason it is able to do low speeds at higher gears is because of the short gearing and also the rear sprocket is large. It is definitely a high revving bike.

            Yup you are right.
Was just pointing out that the D200 makes good power (gives a good pull) in the low rev range and it is easier to ride in city traffic than a 390 or even a R15 who have poor low end torque and have to be revved to be enjoyed.

Seems you are pretty determined about D200. Go for it.
You can also have a look at RC200. All the advantages of D200 with the fairings. Looks great too.
Just one thing. Keep the urge of testing the limitt of your bike in check. The feeling of your machine doing 120/130 kmph is awesome. But, life is more valuable(just an OT since this will be your first bike). Good to see you are not 'only' interested about power and top speed.
              Best of luck!

                Thank you Krishna,
I am not looking for a top speed bike....
In some bikes ,while I was riding at 60 kmph (Discover , Old TVS victor) I feel its not safe to ride at this speed. In some bikes (pulsar) even I am riding at 80kmph I feel I can stop the bike at any time safely .
So I am wishing speed but with good breaks and handling.....

RC 200 good bike but faired type, what I am not looking for (one of the reason for neglecting r15 too)....

Going for duke 200 is good. But please keep in mind, availability of parts and quality service in your area.
That is the most important thing after you buy the bike.
