    Hello Biking World,

    Newbie here.

It was in 2011, I bought my first bike, Black ZMR. And in 2013, I bought my ZMR White.
My younger brother wanted a bike, so I gave him my black and bought white.
Kid crashed it on my apartment wall on the very first day (in my hometown) and gave me tough time!
(and the bike wasnt taken care properly after that as he had plates. I took it back after an year)
I planned to be with the Karizma family forever until I saw the Front View of the latest ZMR (and also R) with headlights like torchlights.

Now, I have planned to go away from Karizma and upgrade. I used tour at times (longest is just 1900kms on a 3 days span).

    My Options (in order):

Ninja 300 Green - Just like how I fell for the Kazrimas at 2006. I fell for the Ninja at 2009. Its like Love at First Sight, dont ask me to explain! Getting Spares take a long time?
Pulsar 400SS Yellow - The Front View stole my heart. Also pillion seat is great (like in ZMRs). I am 100% not going for this if the 200SS looks similar and also if its not out before March.
RC 390 - Read a lot about this bike and finally ended up with advice that it doesnt fit tourers and I'll feel my wrists very soon! Owners please advice.

    My Budget : 4 lakhs.

I know that the P400SS is yet to be reviewed.
Please suggets me other bikes too (Over 200cc with Fairings not Cruisers). I prefer bikes which have two headlights.
I could love to get inputs from the Owners of RC390 and Ninja 300 as I am booking my New Bike on March end.

    Thank you in advance.
Pegasus - 2011* - Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
    Stallion - 2013* - Hero Karizma ZMR
    Nemesis - 2016* - KTM Duke 390
    Rocket - 2021* - KTM RC 390
    Loki - 2022* - Kawasaki Versys 650
    Moon Knight - 2022* - Hero Xpulse 200 4v

Will comment on the mysterious Pulsars when we actually see the darn things being launched in India! If you can afford the Ninja, then nothing like it. For spares you have to be more careful then any Pulsar, Karizma etc. Plan in advance and don't crash

The RC i wouldn't recommend if you are planning to tour.

For more information on availability of spares and any other information, please check out the Ninja 300 ownership thread - http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...xperience.html
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

As said If you wanna tour and you have money to buy and maintain it, then nothing can beat the baby Ninja Its comfortable, got more range than the 390 ( 390 got puny fuel tank ) and finally its a twin. Only disadvantage is costly spares and service.. If you can wait a little bit, R25 is coming. Its also a very capable tourer according to reviews. Hope this helps

        +1 for the above post.
Right now nothing beats ninja 300.
But if you wait for the R3 or R25, which ever comes to India, It has everything that a ninja have without the long waiting for spare parts. Also Yamaha service centers network is large as compared to Kawas...

So if you could wait, you'll have two great bikes to compare and choose from. If you need one now, ninja it is.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

So RC390 is out of my league. And there were rumours that the new Pulsar may come out as early as March first week.
I will wait till March mid and go for the Ninja 300 if the Pulsar 400SS aren't out.

The R25 will resemble the R15 in the Back View. wont it?!
I went for the ZMR because of that

And guys I'm going for the Duke 390. After an year I asked this. 😂
I couldn't buy the bike by then as I had shifted to other place.
The reason is my roommate crashed one of my ZMRs and broke the fairing. So I've decided not to buy a bike with full fairing.
390 now. And saving for the TNT899 for the future.

Ninja was a way better bet but I see how the fairing can be a problem but if so you could've considered the Benelli TNT 300 which was in your budget and frankly has a better build quality than the Duke 390 (Check my soon to change profile pic and you'll see I know what I'm talking about).

But anyway to each his own. I hope you have a better time with your duke than I ever did. Good luck.

friend already has a TNT 300 and we prefer to be unique.
good that nobody in our gang bought a Duke 390
I'll be using my Duke mostly for short rides.

So did I buddy but uniqueness isn't going to help you when you're broken down on the side of the road and trust me uniqueness is not what you want when you need parts to fix your bike.
I own a Duke 390 and have owned it for one and half years and I initially enjoyed it a lot but very soon (Like in 4 months) the fuel pump broke (which was the common issue in 2014 and early 2015) and then I got it replaced under warranty (Still paid for labour and wasted nearly 3 days worth of hours at the svc) and then when I thought my problems were over, the chain went bad in under 8k kms. Then I got that replaced and I started riding the bike more regularly recently and one day on a ride on the side of a highway it broke down with a coolant leak and high coolant temp warning. I got it home somehow and took it to svc the next day only to learn hat the radiator fan had become heat damaged (common problem for late 2015 models which my bike isn't. but wait isn't it meant to be able to tolarate high heat?) and if that wasn't enough the radiator leaked and then I was told my stator coil was faulty and then my cylinder head gasket was replaced to fix a coolant leak into the cylinder all in the span of one week at only 13592 kms on the odo. i maintain my bike and get it serviced at regular intervals and I also don't like to redline or rev my bike in neutral so I don't understand why this happened.

You may say that its a bit of bad luck for me, just pure coincidence but my experience with the bike is one that many others have faced and are still facing with ktm. I am not alone and I will soon be rectifying my mistake by selling the bike and getting something of better build quality.

My motive behind this was not to put you down or demoralize you but to warn you of what is to come if you buy KTM coz its an established fact that they have two production lines, one for India spec KTMs and the other for higher quality foreign spec models.

I sincerely hope you have better luck with your bike than I did with mine. B ut if you do happen to have bad luck remember that a small "complaint" and a threat to post experience in the social media goes a long way.

                      Cheers

Sorry to hear that. Let me hope I get a good one. :/
And chain replacement, I normally do that at 8000kms as I do engine breaking whenever I slow down for Reds and it gets loose quite easily.

All the problems you mentioned i have also faced exact same problems and in the end i had to sell it off. My duke was 1.5years old and 15k kms on odo.

I am sad on seeing such Pesantry quality bikes which are unsafe to the riders on the road.No offence to Duke/RC/Pulsar owners but I think you need to know that your bike has quality issues that can endanger the bike or even your life

Bajaj clearly milked people with better performance and poor quality

I feel sorry for this country of how the Biking Industry has come from the Glorious Yezdi/Jawa,Yamaha/TVS-Suzuki has degraded and come today with plastic trash like this.
