• Looking for a bike for Dad ~ 80K

Hey guys, I am looking for a decent bike for my dad. His office is 12 kms away from our home. We live in a small Village on the outskirts of the city. Currently we are looking for a comfortable motor bike around 80K inr. Bike must be comfortable and easy to ride. He likes the new Unicorn 160 but we feel the onroad price of 85K( for standard) and 94K (for CBS) is steep (Quoted by Muthoot Honda). Does the Unicorn really worth the asking amount? He thinks bikes like FZ and Gixxer are not appropraite for his age. What are the other options we have. Honda Trigger, Unicorn 15, Pulsar 150? OR is there any new launch we should wait for? Waiting for your valuable comments. Thanks in advance.

1. Budget : 70-80K+- 5K
2. Age : 53 years
3. Height : 170 cm
4. Weight : 62 Kg
5. Intended usage : Office commute/Occasional long rides (Once in a month)
6. Fuel Efficiency requirement : >50 would be nice
7. City & Highway percentage usage : City:Highway 50:50
8. Approximate Daily / Monthly running : 25 km daily ~ 700 km/month
9. Brand / Bike type preference (if any) : Owned TVS and Hero bikes before. Preferred brands :Honda, Suzuki, Bajaj, Yamaha. Bike should be reliable and after sales service must be decent.

Just Try out Suzuki Gixxer its great on comfort and can be good for long rides also. Or you can check out Yamaha FSZ FI which is much more comfort with Fuel injection that offer great milege and is good on comfort also.

If you are looking for a hero bike check out the newly launched Xtreme Sports . I would peffer you go with your dad and test drive these bike. My dad is travelling on FZS and in no way it is specific toh any age group until it is comfortable to ride.

I'd suggest him Unicorn 150 or Yamaha SZ-RR. Both are reliable, smooth and comfortable commuters. After sales service is the plus point for Yamaha wherein it's a little better mileage for the Honda. Both of them are appropriate for his age.
Personally I'd suggest GS150 rather than Gixxer because of comparatively less sportier riding ergonomics.
Among other 150ccs if you are looking for a Hero bike, he can try the Achiever.

@shrikant11 : Gixxer and Fz's sport have sportier riding ergonomics and both does not have toe-heel shifters I think. we will test ride both the bikes and Thanks for the sudden reply .

krishna77 : We have considered GS150 earlier but later we decided to let go since the bike was in the market for a long period. Any idea on replacement or facelift model of the GS150? Thanks for the reply.

@yash444888 : Thanks for the reply. We will have a test drive of the SZ RR as well.

+1 fro SZ-RR.
A good commuter bike, smooth and reliable Yamaha engine.
God mileage, and an all round performer.
Take test ride and then decide.
All the best.

Unicorn 160: its more lightweight and powerful than 150(outdated).

Hope you are not thinking of anything other than Unicorn.
It's the most logical, meaningful and worthy advice anyone here will give you.
Its the most comfortable, vibe free engine and designed specifically keeping 30+office going population in mind.
Has a very good if not great rear seat and has a nice decent understated looks for a 150cc bike in India.
Also, the mileage will be a plus for your Dad.

Did test drives of Gixxer, FZS and SZ-RR . Gixxer and FZS were a little bit extra sportier for his liking and SZ-RR felt under powered. Finally done a test drive of the unicorn 150 as 160 is not available yet and he liked the ride quality and performance. Seriously thinking about getting a unicorn 160.

But the on road price quoted in 87K for the standard variant and 94K for the CBS, which we think is a bit on the higher end and there is a waiting period of 1 month too. Not quite sure about the price. The on-road price quoted by the official Honda site for Cochin is around around 82K.
