Riding comfort: TVS Star City vs Honda Dream Neo
I have a very specific query regarding riding comfort of TVS Star City vis a vis Honda Dream Neo. It is not a very intelligent query to ask but I'm having a tough time deciding between these two. I am 6 ft tall guy and intend to use bike for commuting. -

Approved!
Take a test ride for a relatively long distance and decide. We can tell what we like, but that may not necessarily suit you.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Riding comfort: TVS Star City vs Honda Dream Neo
If you are talking about Old Star city, then the suspension was stiff and handling was not upto the mark. The new Star City Plus is a vast improvement. If comfort is your priority, I will advice you to get a Honda Shine/Yamaha SS. You being 6 ft tall, might cramp yourself on the regular 100CCs. If budget constraint, do take test rides on both the bikes and decide.HH Dawn - TVS Star City - Yamaha Gladiator - TVS RTR 180 - Honda CBR 250R - Yamaha R3

Re: Riding comfort: TVS Star City vs Honda Dream Neo
Thanks for approving my thread and for the replies.I did take brief trials of both honda neo and tvs star city +.The star + riding position feels comfortable to me and the engine also seems to be adequate.I could even ride from 3rd gear after coming to a halt. I am not very comfortable with stylish(And funny looking)
bikes and hence the reluctance to go to higher cc bikes since they all look weirdly funny to me.
Appreciate inputs from star + user.

Homda shine seating arrangement also appears to be uncomfortable to me.Have to try other yamaha bikes.

Re: Riding comfort: TVS Star City vs Honda Dream Neo
The major problem with the Honda bikes is the suspension. The suspension is very hard even on its softest setting. the bikes are not made for indian roads. TVS and Bajaj understand indian road conditions better and hence manufacture biikes with softer suspension.Originally posted by rtv View PostThanks for approving my thread and for the replies.I did take brief trials of both honda neo and tvs star city +.The star + riding position feels comfortable to me and the engine also seems to be adequate.I could even ride from 3rd gear after coming to a halt. If u travel 10+kms daily then u shud drop the idea of buying a Honda as it will cause back pains within a year

I don't know about the suspension but I feel very uncomfortable riding on honda or hero(honda) bikes. The seating position feels awkward. If tvs star + is as improved as some people say, it would be a very ideal bike for commuting.

Honda's engine have no match when it comes to reliability. But if you keep any Brand bike well maintained/Timely serviced, it will seldom disappoint you. My Star City was sold last year after almost 90K running. I took utmost care of it, and it never betrayed me.Originally posted by rtv View PostI don't know about the suspension but I feel very uncomfortable riding on honda or hero(honda) bikes. The seating position feels awkward. +1 for the above post. There is no match for a Japanese engine. But Tvs if kept well and maintained and serviced regularly is just as good.
tvs star +, is a good commuter bike, and if you find it more comfortable than the others you should go for it.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Re: Riding comfort: TVS Star City vs Honda Dream Neo
The new Star City has had a vast improvement in terms of comfort and and handling. But, not sure whether the same would be comfortable for a 6ft tall person.
The Neo on the other hand has a better engine. But the suspension is on the stiffer side. It will come down on the area you ride in and how do you prefer your suspension setup - soft or hard.
You can also have a look at the Yamaha Crux. A no-nonsense old school tough bike. Mentioning this because I know a person who travel to Medinipur from Kolkata and back(approx 150 km.s for one side) and he never complains about any discomfort.
Take a throrough ride on the bikes and decide. TR from friends/relatives/rental services as you will have a longer time to judge the bikes unlike the showrooms.
All the best.A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Re: Riding comfort: TVS Star City vs Honda Dream Neo
Saw a Star city 110 last day, carrying 2 people of moderate build and the rear end was hanging down with shocks giving too much up and down movements. I have personally felt the rear shocks of TVS 4 strokes (Fiero, Victor, Star city etc) to be very soft. Since the OP said he is 6ft, I doubt if the puny star city bike will suit him.
Suggest taking a test ride of both bikes and decide.
