  • Zuki Gixxer SF or...

    Dear Xbhpians,

Couple of months ago I had made a decision on the basis of what the fellow Xbhpians said and now I need some more help in choosing a new bike.

I am using the CBZ I had bought from my cousin but I am getting good price for it so thinking about selling and buying either Classic 350 or Karizma. 2 days ago returning home after dropping my kid to the school, I stopped @ Suzuki showroom and saw the new Gixxer SF. Its a very very impressive bike and somehow I have this urge to go for it.

Lemme go back to the questions:

    1. 1,00,000 to 1,50,000
    2. 34
    3. 6'0
    4. 98kg
    5. Intended usage: Office commute + weekend riding with friends to nearby locations
    6. Fuel Efficiency requirement: Not that important as I'll be doing 20-25 km daily and 100 max on weekends.
    7. City: 80%, Highway: 20%
    8. Daily: 25-30kms, Monthly: 1000-1200kms
    9. City / Town /Village of residence: Surat
    10. Brand / Bike type preference: Suzuki Gixxer SF, Karizma ZMR, RE Classic 350

My concern with Zuki is that my wife wont be able to enjoy the ride with me and thats why Classic 350 was my first choice. After checking this new Zuki I am leaning towards it. I may keep this bike for solo riding.

As I had mentioned earlier Power, FE is not an issue to me. I doubt I will ever cross 90-100

Has anyone tried this Gixxer SF yet? Any Gixxer user share their experience? What about the ASS? Can you guys guide me here?

    Regards,
    Masud

    Query Approved

I doubt if there are any owners who have clocked any significant miles on it yet. But visually, the bike looked like a good build, typical Suzuki. But pillion comfort...
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

SF should be a good bike but wait for some more days to get a proper feedback. I also am not sure about the pillion comfort for the Gixxer twins. Why don't you check out the Uni160?

With your weight, I might suggest looking at power of 150cc gixxer.

My wife will rarely sit on it so most of the time it will be me and sometimes it will be my 4 year old son. Pillion comfort wont be an issue.

They sadly didnt offer a test ride so I am waiting for the user feedback / review.

the very first batches of the new bikes always have niggles and troubles because no quality checks are done in India.
So the company manufactures the bike and start selling it straight away. Then when the customers complain about the problem, then they rectify the problems. SO the first batch is the beta testing version, never buy it.

Look at the first batches of all new bikes, Duke 200 had electrical problems, 200NS had such a long list of problems that we even have a specific thread about it in help me section, Even gixxer had rusting problems in the very first batches.

So you get my drift... Wait a considerable amount of time and research before buying. It is not wise to invest your hard earned money in something that would give you a headache every time you look at it.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Unicorn 160 is good overall package but it lacks quality. Switchgear is simply poor. Even handling is not upto the mark may be because of poor tires or some other reason. It feels very light and ackward due to poor grip from tires. After 6000rpm it starts shaking and vibrates a lot which is not acceptable to me.

A friend of mine bought the new Unicorn and he still misses his old model so I guess its a NO from my side as well.

6 ft and 98 kgs, I'd say go for the 350 classic.

Gixxer as such is very good bike with nice power delivery and torque. I personally didn't feel a drop in power with 170 kms onboard .
Pillion seat is not comfortable for a well built man, bum hurts even after sitting for 10 kms.
