thanks to @lnagr here http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...ml#post1144265 was going to get it at price listed on website. called bajaj CC yesterday and he said the dealer has to sell at price listed on website and that i should call CC and they would talk to the dealer and fix it.

went to bajaj showroom today with 60k in pocket, mind almost ready to bring home an avenger. ex-showroom price quoted by dealer was Rs 2,000/- more than that given on bajaj auto website. asked the salesman and he confidently said "its because of 14% VAT that is added to ex-showroom price!"
I gave him calculation of 14% on 82k ~11,500/-. he retreated and said " that is what i know. talk to the manager."

the manager said its for accessories - leg guard, saree guard, mirrors and backrest. Aren't these things included in the ex showroom price??

called the bajaj helpline and it gave a message " we are available from monday to saturday"
Can some senior Member appraise me correct price (on-road and ex-showroom) for Bajaj Avenger for Navi Mumbai location and a consumer friendly Dealer of Navi Mumbai area? Your inputs would be much appreciated.

you can find the ex-showroom price from the bajaj website itself. Bajaj Avenger 220 DTS-i Price in Maharashtra(Mumbai City)
if the bajaj auto dealer tries to say the price has been recently increased or its VAT or anything else just call to bajaj customer care and they will handle the issue. same thing is going on in chandigarh and bajaj customer care sorted it out with the dealer.

Hi, just wanted to update about the outcome of this thread. After a lot of cofusion, having returned from the dealer twice due to last minute confusion finally took the plunge today.

Booked a red 200AS today at solan. Will take delivery tomorrow.
Thank you all for the invaluable help in reaching a conclusion.

I saw the manual. service interval:
        1st 500-750km or 30-45 days
        2nd 4500-5000 km or 240 days
        3rd 9500-10000km or 360 days
afterwards every 5000km or 120 days.

I thought the second interval was wrond. 2nd service after 240 days! shouldnt it be 2nd 120 days , 3rd 240 days, 4th 360 days and so on....
Saw an RS200 manual and it had the same thing!

Also it has Eurogrips. 100/80-17 front and 130/70-17 rear. I have heard a lot of negatives about it. So any ideas for good replacement tyres in the above sizes.
went to a local MRF dealer, he had front FX1(Rs 1800 not FY1) and rear Revs-S (Rs 2800). how are these?

EDIT: Any special care to be taken for running-in in the Hills?
