  • Kawasaki Ninja 650 or Harley Davidson Street 750

    Hi All,

I have come back to the forum after a long time. Last time I had visited this forum for the advice of all you experienced members to decide whether to go Pulsar 220 FI or Fazer in 2009. I went for Pulsar based on the feedback I received. Now, the time has come to move on and go in for a bigger machine. This time I am again in a dilemma. The question is whether to go for KW Ninja 650 or HD Street 750? I know both these machines are of different categories. One is a sports bike and another is a sports tourer. But since the stakes involved are very high I need advice from all you guys.
Purpose: The bike will be used for commuting to office regularly and will run for 30 kms everyday in city traffic. I plan to occasionally do a weekend trip (once a month) although till date I have done only a couple of short rides. But really wish to join you guys and do atleast one trip per month.
My views: KW Ninja 650 - I have heard that it is a very good bike. I like the driving posture it has but the problem is Probiking never offers a test drive. So I have just heard the firing of the bike. But whatever feedback I have always heard its a very good entry level sports bike.
HD Street 750 - I have test driven the same. Very good torque. But considering my height (5.11) I thought the sitting position was a bit uncomfortable. But read on this forum that a few modifications (Screaming Eagle Exhaust; Tallboy Seat, etc) can make this machine a beautiful one.
My Queries : Considering my background and the bike's usage which one is recommended and why?

    Query Approved

Firstly i hope the advice you got the last time around has made you happy over the years!!

Secondly, you are right, the two bikes are not of the same category. Though the N650 is not a sportsbike it is more of a sportstourer. The Street 750 is a good bike, but am not sure which category should it go in, Cruiser, street or a little confused!

I am the same height as you and didn't find the Street uncomfortable at all. The 650 of course is a lovely bike.

Though both the bikes are good, i would be slightly more inclined towards the Kwacker for no particular reason.

Either ways all the best for your new bike
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

N650 is a better choice, the 750's fit and finish not that great tyres are ordinary, brakes are not sharp, and for your height would be a bit uncomfortable rideing in city traffic.
N650 is a proven machine plus better dealer network

I have never ridden any Harley... but own a 650... it justifies its price and I am just loving it.... You can cruise all day without any strain.... even for commute its a good bike (except the heat generated in stop go traffic, which any high capacity bike does).. mileage is 30 kmpl that I am getting... so I would suggest if you are looking for a practical bike.. the search can end at Ninja 650

Congrats on the N650! I never knew that you upgraded. Hence no more lurking in the ZMR thread?

Just a thought, if you would want to add one more bike to your list... Benelli 600i and they are offering test rides also, I know it's a naked but it's more suited for City rideing plus it's more fun..
