Confused, Fazer or Apache!
Hi, all. I'm planning to buy a new 150 cc category bike. The bikes that are in my considerations are Fazer and Apache 160. I love the looks of the old model Apache, but I heard the old model white color 160cc is not available now. Is that sure? And I'm concerned about the vibrations as well. Regarding Fazer version 2.0(fi), the price is almost 1,00,000 and it has less power than the old version, but heard fi increased the fuel efficiency. So I'm thinking about the old model of Fazer. I need assistance on it's mileage and pillion seat comfort? Will it give an avg of 40-42(I'm a sane rider but most of the riding is in city conditions)? I fell in love with it's looks. The dual headlight........... Help me....... Is it a wise decision to go for Fazer old model?????Tags: None

FYI, there was no white color 160cc in old model.. Only new model 160 comes in white.
You can get yellow colour and black colour old design 160 if you don't like the looks of the new one.

Yup old model apache's are still being manufactured (it had stopped briefly when the new model had launched but restarted after few months) with some minor changes being carried over from the new model.. Like the design of pillion footrest, now all apaches get tvs remora tyres etc..

Re: Confused, Fazer or Apache!
It would be easier for us to reply if you could give us more requirements like usage, your height, budget etc.
Any ways for your questions, Apache 160 comes in white now as per the website. Yes the vibrations are still there but have been brought down to some level compared to previous model. The old Fazer (carburetted) is still available in showrooms. The carb FZ/Fazer will give 40+ on sane riding. The Fazer pillion seat is comfortable enough for city stints. It is not a wise decision to choose ANY vehicle based on its looks alone.Tour De Thekkady

Re: Confused, Fazer or Apache!
I have ridden Fazer 2012 model for around 27000 KM's till date and Apache RTR 180 ( new model) for around 70-80 KM's . Fazer was my first bike and i learnt to ride on the same without much knowledge about run-in etc still the bike is in good condition
My inputs on both the bikes would be
Fazer :-
i) Really smooth engine , no vibrations upto 7k after which slight vibrations start creeping in
ii) Can easily cruise at 70-80 KMPH , hard revving can quickly take you upto 90 after which you need to stress the engine a lot (highest i went was 105 constant for around 500 meters or so after which I was scared the engine would seize )
iii) The old fazer pillion seats are not comfortable at all whereas the new fazer/fz seats seem much larger
iv) Can expect a mileage of 35-38 on sane riding and around 30-32 when you keep revving and changing gears
v) The rear tyres have really good grip , my rear tyres have got locked on numerous occasions but never fell down
vi) The fairing breaks easily (i hit a cow at 40 once and my fairing was all gone , had to pay 5k for replacement)
vii) Paid servicing costs are on the higher side when compared to other brands
Apache RTR
i) Has much better pickup and is much easier to handle in traffic conditions ( higher CC and also a naked bike so its obvious)
ii) Much higher vibrations even at speeds of 50-60 when compared to fazer, can be a cause of fatigue for long distance rides
iii) Seating posture is aggresive as compared to fazer which is much more relaxed
iv) Better headlight than fazer (this probably can be a personal case , since my fazer headlights are pretty much useless)
v) Found it to be better looking than Fazer.

Re: Confused, Fazer or Apache!
the fuel injected fazers mileage could go upto 48kmpl in city. the carburetted fazer would give you above 42kmpl in city. the FI one has better fuel efficiency as its underpowered by about roughly 1bhp or so and of course, also coz its fuel injected. in my opinion the fazer is an extremely underpowered machine with a completely unnecessary muscular design and radial tyre. apache however isnt very underpowered and if not ridden hard, i sure will give you above 40kmpl in city. agreed that its less appealing to look at but you gotta test ride both the bikes and see what youd prefer. the better pickup on the apache or the smoothness of the fazer. i personally didnt like the monoshock suspension on the fazer. consider that too. and if you can, id say you have a good look at the suzuki gixxer as well or the gixxer sf if yoou want a fared bike. if i were to pick a 150cc commuter, gixxer would be my first pick hands down. take test rides man. damn useful.

Re: Confused, Fazer or Apache!
For smooth and reliable engine, good looks, top notch build quality and Yamaha quality. Go with Fazer.
For lght and nimble city bike with vibrations but more than fazer, go with Apache.
Take test rides and then decide.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.
