  • Pulsar 180 or NS or AS200 or Gixxer SF

    Hi All,

My first thread on xBHP.I had a Pulsar135 earlier, Loved the bike for its manuevarability but it was underpowered so sold it.
My requirement is daily commuting of 20Kms and a long ride(150-200kms) every month and looking to keep the bike for around 3-4 years
Shortlisted NS, AS200 and Gixxer SF as my budget is around 1L.
Done test ride on NS and SF and felt comfortable on both, (AS200 unavailable for test ride at most bajaj showrooms in Hyderabad).
Doubt about Gixxer SF:the rear drum brakes would it be a downer while doing touring? Also are the maintainance cost on lower side like bajaj?
Doubt about ASoes the Windscreen visor and semi fairing really make the difference or should I just go for NS.
A small twist in tale: One of my friend is selling his pulsar 180 (2014august model) which is only driven for 5k KMs. He's asking for 60k bucks. He may agree at around 57k if I negotiate, but is it really worth it?

    Please help me decide.

    Query Approved.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

Go with the Bajaj as200 as it's good value for money vehicle.
It's good for daily commuting and weekend rides.
The AS200 will have better wind protection and pretty much the same performance as the ns200 . With regular maintenance it will last long .

Depreciation value for p180 should be near to 55k, ask for less than that.
& u can use the remaining money for petrol & other expenses

Regarding new bike , AS200 is new of the lot ,trusted ns engine is good , go for it .

Hi aman buy new P180. it's updates with older model now its coming with new graphics, ample power delivery than NS , gives you good millage near 40-45kmpl. I am also using P180 2014 model trust me i love this bike than NS and AS. Take a test ride then you can understand why i am saying P180 is good than others

If you are willing to wait then wait till Gixxer SF new variant (with read disc) and then decide.

I personally think that you will not be satisfied with the upgrade to gixxer since you felt that the 135LS was underpowered. I would suggest you to go for the AS200 as there are articles mentioning that NS production would be stopped. Also, in addition to the fairing, I believe that the AS200 gets projector head lamp. I have never been in favour of second hand motorcycles so wouldn't comment on the P180.

Re: Pulsar 180 or NS or AS200 or Gixxer SF

I am not sure about your power expectations buddy. I come from a 225cc bike a decade ago and still found Gixxer SF powerful enough. Keep in mind that AS200 is 50cc bigger (33%) than Gixxer SF.

Out of the bikes you have listed, I would have shortlisted only AS200 and Gixxer SF. NS200 has been discontinued and also my friend owns a NS and he complains of rattling noises in the bike. Else, it is very powerful for its segment and brings a smile to his face. AS200 is nothing but better quality NS200 with a semi/half fairing. So AS200 should be your pick over NS200.

Coming to AS (AS200) vs SF (Gixxer SF): The two bikes are having some of their own USPs.

                SF trumps AS in:
                1. Refinement: There are no vibrations in the bike all the way till redline as per reviewers and owners. I drove it till 3500rpm and it was vibration free.
                2. Better build quality.
                3. Looks (subjective).
                4. Full fairing so better highway manners.
                5. Better handling and ride quality.

                AS trumps SF in:
                1. Features: Lots of them (projectors etc) in AS compared to SF.
                2. Performance: 33% bigger engine. More power. More torque.
                3. Riding/seating position is slightly better in AS.
                4. Taller seat is better suited for taller riders as well.

Disclaimer: I do not own any of these bikes and I have just driven them for a short while. The above points are based on general consensus in discussions in our forum.
