Re: Help a Beginner!!
Query Approved
Doing some groundwork and shortlisting a few models that are of interest and asking specific questions would be far more useful than being this vague.Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!
Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

No offense, but, you need to have a preference in what you want. You cannot just take what comes your way...you can choose what you want.Originally posted by murgeshd View Post

Re: Help a Beginner!!
Agree with the comments here. You need to have some idea of what kind of machine you want. When I bought my first bike barely two years ago, I was clear I needed something with excellent road stability and which forgiving in nature as I didn't know how to ride. So I chose a FZ and boy did it bailed me out of sticky situations during my learning phase and proved to be in my opinion the perfect learners bike. So list out your requirements, take your skill level into consideration and take a call 😊. That said, you budget (80k-100k) will easily fetch you a premium 150cc commuter. It is the most competitive segment and you will be spoilt for choices.

Re: Help a Beginner!!
Looking at your love for the faired ones...and less CCs...Take a test drive on Gixxer SF, the only full faired bike in its category, or you can also try for Fazer (not sure if V1 is still available or the OTR of v2 will be under 1L ) . Gixxer SF has good road presence and must help you during you weekend rides. Its a decent city commuter too. I havent seen any reviews about Gixxer SF in this forum (or I may have missed it, sorry for that).
Check other websites too, about the pro's and cons of the bike. Any good amount of Test drive should tell you. take one and decide for yourself. It must suite all your afore mentioned requirements.R15S - Current

Oops i mean non faired bikes..
I have some riding experience in these bikes
Actually i like the old Apache rtr 180 ABS the most of all (one with orange & black stripes) but now its not available with ABS
(is that still available in market?
)
The new one is bit Uncomfortable - its handle and power. I have experience on both- but hooked with old one
FZ-S- Really Good n smooth for riding- mileage ok - But is that ok for long rides ?
I don't have ridding experience on Gixxer - Just read lots of reviews about it
Most riding experience in avenger - felt comfort - mileage is OK - but its too short for me - and again is that ok for long rides? is there engine vibration above 70 kmph?(i have same query even with FZ)
CB Trigger/ Unicorn - Only for commuting with decent milage - NO LONG RIDES
Also advice if any other bikes in this segment

I was trying to say non faired bikes!
Gixxer seems to be sporty.. more over its pillion seat!
Will try to check out its reviews for better consideration

Re: Help a Beginner!!
New Apache or old one will suit short riders like us (Mind you, I am just 5'7"), If you are looking for city commute and if you are OK to take 2nd hand bikes, Why not try the Classic 350 or TB 350. It should not cost you more than 90k, but maintenance is a bit steep, All round machine (In my opinion), tourer and city commuter too..Decent pillion comfy.Originally posted by murgeshd View PostActually i like the old Apache rtr 180 ABS the most of all (one with orange & black stripes) but now its not available with ABS

Frankly speaking, there are not much bikes in the 150cc segment to suit your requirement. If you fee avenger is a bit short for you, I will have to laugh over it. Its designed for short/tall riders upto 6' with comfortable seating position. A great tourer which yhou will get uner 1L. Vibrations are bound to creep in when you go past 85-90kmph. But cruising at 80kmph is a bliss.
If you ask me. I would say
1. RE - 2nd hand - CL350/TB350
2. Unicorn 160
3. RTR 180 abs
4. Gixxer
5. AvengerR15S - Current

I feel it bit uncomfortable to handle the avenger in traffics, even its mileage makes me think twice.Originally posted by TheArcher84 View PostNew Apache or old one will suit short riders like us (Mind you, I am just 5'7"), If you are looking for city commute and if you are OK to take 2nd hand bikes, Why not try the Classic 350 or TB 350. Re: Help a Beginner!!
For that budget, best bikes in the market would be
Pulsar NS/AS
Gixxer
FZ Fi
Unicorn 160
Now, all of them are great for city commutes and highway rides. People say NS has tall seating. But I didn't face any such issue while test riding it, and I am 5'7". The problem with buying a 150cc engine bike is that out on the highway, your cruising speed will be 80-90, after which the engine will strain itself. This is where 200cc Pulsar has an upper hand.
Prepare a list, start taking test rides, and shortlist the bikes. All the best.
