KTM RC200 for a beginner?
I am still learning riding bikes and never have owned a bike before, the bikes i usually ride are Hero honda karizma R and yamaha r15 and tvs wego, so my question is "is KTM RC200 a good bike to begin my riding with?" I am absolutely in love with it, reading reviews day and night, scrolling through pictures is usually how my day goes, I plan on buying it after monsoon (around sept-oct) till then i will practice on those bikes. This is going to be my first bike and i want to make a correct decision. My commute will usually be 30-35 KM daily in the city.Never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly.Tags: None

Re: KTM RC200 for a beginner?
Since you are already riding a Karizma and R15, i don't think you would have a problem with riding the RC200.
It will be your first bike, so you will surely be even more careful
Ride responsibly and you will stay safe.
The only thing i wonder is would the RC be comfortable at all for a 35km urban start-stop ride?Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!
Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Re: KTM RC200 for a beginner?
If you are comfortable with R15 and need a performance upgrade,Then go for the RC200 !
If you aren't comfy with R15,Don't go for the RC200 (Very Track-dedicated riding/seating Position)
RC is a Track bike and it is not a 'Practise' bike (It can be one in Track)
As simple as that.[My Motorcycle]

Thanks, 35Km is the total average, daily rides in the city wont go beyond 10-15 km at a stretch (thats the distance from my home to college)Originally posted by The Monk View PostSince you are already riding a Karizma and R15, i don't think you would have a problem with riding the RC200.

R15 is my friends bike and i am still learning on that and the karizma R, i wont actually buy it until i'm confident that i can handle it.Originally posted by TVSian View PostIf you are comfortable with R15 and need a performance upgrade,Then go for the RC200 !

6 months of safe practice on any 150cc bike should make you eligible to handle a 25ps machine.Originally posted by jRay View PostR15 is my friends bike and i am still learning on that and the karizma R, i wont actually buy it until i'm confident that i can handle it.
More important things to tick off your bucket list:
1. DL
2. Helmet (at the very least)
3. Respect for road users
4. Common sense.
Since you're getting into the world of motorcycling, get your habits right from the get go. Unlearning (badly learnt) stuff later is painful.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
Because everyone who passes, isn't a martyr!

Re: KTM RC200 for a beginner?
The seating position in Karizma is not as agressive as R15. If you are accustomed to the R15 seating position, I guess RC200 shouldnt be a problem. Like already quoted by our mods, Make sure it is 'practical' enough for a 35-40 km ride in city traffic.Originally posted by jRay View Postthe bikes i usually ride are Hero honda karizma R and yamaha r15 and tvs wego, so my question is "is KTM RC200 a good bike to begin my riding with?" I hope you have taken your TD, if not, try taking one inside city for a good 5-10 kms, empty roads is a bliss for any motorcyle, try to test the seating position, rideability in peak traffic.
Wish you good luck in getting your dream machine,.R15S - Current

Re: KTM RC200 for a beginner?
So brother, you have decided to buy a bike just by looking at it and reading reviews online..... That is not a good thing to do brother. Take test rides because a 5kms test ride will tell you more about a bike than a month of reading online, the sound of the engine, the bite of the brakes, the behavior of the bike in jam packed traffic as well as on open roads, how it behaves when you have a pillion on the back seat and many other important things.Originally posted by jRay View PostThanks a ton. You are a beginner and ktm is an expensive bike,I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

I will definitely take a test drive before buying and will buy it if i feel its good. I am just very much inclined towards it because i asked some friends in college who own it and reviews are very much positive, then too i will make a final decision after a TD. Re: KTM RC200 for a beginner?
I dont see any problem in starting with RC200. Just use the throttle judiciously. When 25 BHP is no big thing, it's always more than enough to get you and/ or other road users into trouble.
