  • Heart is stuck on gixxer. Mind is a bit insecure.

I'm booking my gixxer today. I've fallen in love with the bike. I read all the reviews and everything. Rode the bike. A friend of my friend has it. Blue color. I'm going for the black.

Now the issues that have been eating my mind.

    1. I'm in pune so ASS should be good here. I expect them to be good. Or am I wrong. As in other threads I've read that ASS is not good. I knw that bikes require little ASS if you maintain them good. I've had an activa 2009 version. It still runs like a charm. So should I be concerned about ASS?

    2. The rusting issues? The tank rusts I've heard? And my area the sinhgad vadgaon campus is quite damp. Will it cause issues?

    3. Heard that while downshifting the gear shifter becomes rock hard. Is it true? Or just another rumor?

These are the issue which make me kinda insecure about my decision to go with Suzuki gixxer. Am I taking the right decision by buying the gixxer?

    Query Approved

No clue about 1. and 2.

But 3 is not accurate. The bike has a smooth gearbox, where the rider has no problem with upshifting or down.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

If u want gixxer just go ahead and get the gixxer sf (fully faired bike).as compared to gixxer it has higher top end(8-10kmph).due to the fairing.

Nothing in this world is perfect. No matter how expensive your bike is, it's bound to have some issues. Be it a HD or a Hayabusa.
A bike is like a companion for life. If you like her, go for her. There will be certain things about her which you can't change. Just make a little adjustment, sometimes tweak your expectations - and you'll be happy.
Naf of gyan . Go for the Gixxer. It's one of the bests in segment. Maybe the person giving you feedback had some issues in his unit; a Suzuki gearbox should be smooth enough.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Get the gixxy bro.. A bike that appeals to heart is more important than what it appeals to your head. All bikes will have niggles and it's upto the rider to understand the bike and act accordingly. Giving up the heart loved bike means you'll feel for it each time you see one. Just go for it and enjoy the ride..

Re: Heart is stuck on gixxer. Mind is a bit insecure.

Hey, do go ahead and buy the Gixxer. I have been reading on it immensely on various forums and blogs and there is nothing much to fault the bike. I am at crossroads too, as to which would be my next upgrade. The Unicorn 160 would appeal to the mind but one might feel bored after a while (though it is an amazing bike too).

Wrt to the rusting issue I suppose it has been worked upon for the post Jan models. So the dampness shouldn't be an issue.
Yes I have read about poor after sales service and it has been a cause of concern for me too - I mean shifting from the fairly better Honda/ Hero. But I guess Suzuki must be working hard to improve this specially now that they have a winner in their hands.

Having recently purchased a Passion X Pro and being a collegian. I am also regretting why I didn't even consider the Gixxer few months back since the boredom has crept in.
However my priorities wrt purchasing one were different then and my ride serves me well for my needs.

The Gixxer is what will be the most logical upgrade for you in terms of style as well as a decent 150 cc performer from the Activa in my opinion.
As others here have mentioned, any bike regard of the make - if regularly maintained and serviced will last well for a couple of years. It is one of the most up to date bikes, if ridden sanely it also manages a 50 kpl, looks fantastic and has the reliable Suzuki tag.

Waiting eagerly for your review and my best wishes for your new purchase!

Go for gixxer. I'm so fixed on naked gixxer and will proudly own one in couple of weeks. Just waiting for rear disc version to be launched. I have ridden a lot of bikes but gixxer just blew my mind.

I have owned a gixxer for a little more than a year now and trust me,it still doesn't fail to surprise and blow my mind 😍 I'm not aware about 1 lol,but 2.. My tank nor any bolt has rusted till now... And yes, my bike has been exposed to a lot of damp climate... Eventually it just comes up to how often you clean and maintain your bike 😁 and 3, initially the gear shift is a little hard... But after 1st service it just becomes really smooth, the difference is notable.. And after 2nd service, even better... So yeah, that's not really gonna be a problem... An advise,if your heart is stuck on gixxer, just follow it brother... Trust me,you won't be disappointed 😁😝

Re: Heart is stuck on gixxer. Mind is a bit insecure.

                      Hi Brother,

You can go for Gixxer eyes closed, it is a very good bike and will be a proper upgrade for you.
As for the service center problem, you will have first 5 services free at the ASS. In those 5 free services you can check if the ASS are doing a good job or not, if you find the service satisfactory continue, else go to a trusted mechanic.

Sticking to ASS is required for complicated bikes with fuel injection systems, radiators and an army of sensors. Gixxer is simple carb setup and have no electronic sensors like the R15 or CBRs, so any trusted mechanic will be able to service it. So at the end of 5 free services if you don't like the service center find a trusted mechanic and get the service done in front of your eyes.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

                        1. Don't worry about any ASS/ASCs in general, as long as you explain (if any issues) the issues properly and dont fight with them its never going to be an obstacle.
                        2. I had a bike, a very regular bike, in Mumbai and it began rusting at a few spots within a few years. The same bike i used the next 5 years in Pune and the corrosion spots didnt Grow. Pune's weather is pretty much forgiving in case of metals and they dont generally rust, unless you end up scrapping the paint or there are any inherent defects in paint like bubbles or flaking etc.
                        3. About the third point only an ownership review can help you out.

Dont be insecure about your choice in bike. as long as YOU Like the Bike and riding it makes you feel good, its all worth the effort. At the end of day, take any Bike Make/Model and search internet forum for reviews, you will not find any Without anyone facing problems. It depends much on the usage as well.

GO through the motor manufacturer manual and Do the DOs and stay away from the Dont's and things should be pretty Rewarding!
