    Hello all!

Shreyas from bangalore. i had yamaha rx 135 before..its an awesome bike. rode it for just 4 years.
My age is 33, weight: 56 kg, height: 5' 3
    Currently, I own a second hand bike - Suzuki Heat 125cc 2006. 8 1/2 years . clocked 45000 kms+ . Planning to buy a new one.
I don't want to go for 150cc as mileage and bugdet is a big concern. i dont travel too much, highways nope.
So, please give me your suggestion .

    Budget - 65k Max.

For daily office commuting (10-20 kms daily)

Good mileage (45-50kmpl). Good seating space and comfort

    Good headlights, brakes, tubless tyres

important - Good tyres. availability spare parts

    shortlisted some bikes:

Honda Shine New Style (service?? , performance, mileage not so great compared to hero . and what about spare parts??)

TVS Phoenix New 2015 (serious doubt about its road grip as I heard some people say it has thin tires and can easily slip) can we change the tyres (my choice) after getting the bike????

Hero Glamour programmed fi . i have no idea about this bike, and there is new style launched also? if anybody knows about hero moto corp bikes which gives max mileage, please do let me know. budget, saddle height.

Bajaj Discover 125 ST (i think it has a high saddle height)

i do not know information about suzuki bikes, though i have the superb experience riding it.
i wanted a bike to travel office so took a second hand, its from my friend. so now a days (1 month) mileage is dropping and performance too. problems in gear shifting.

so shared my opinion . i really need the best, the best bike in 125cc segment. as soon as possible

Why not consider the new Platina ES. It has good seat height. Should be comfortable for you. Pillion seat is ok. Good mileage in city > 55kmpl . You will not be able to go beyond 65kmph in that, so speed is not an option.

If not that, may be try Star city. As good as Platina.

Both of them has decent service centres in any city/town. Spare parts is not concern, Maintenance wise is cool. Will not burn your pocket. And yes, It should fit inside your budget by atleast 15k

You can change your tyres to Ceat ...should have good road grip for city

The definition and meaning of 'best' varies from person to person depending upon individual requirements.
For your requirements, all the bikes you have mentioned are good enough. Specially Shine and Glamour. But Glamour FI should cost should cost ~ 75K or more.
Shine is a good city commuter with a smooth engine and good gearbox. Personally, I find the seating comfort of Shine more than that of Glamour. Since within city you will not be riding in a high speed, choice should be yours between these two.
Discover 125 is a more powerful bike than the Phoenix. So the top end and torque is a little better. But, the finishing and engine of Phoenix seems to be better to me among these two.
Even the Saluto is a good one. Has a more relaxed engine with lightweight frame. But, why not give a try to SS125? Looks still draw attention. Has a smooth engine and gearbox. Comfort is top notch. Though it does not have a tubeless tyre, that alone should not be a deal breaker. Is a fun to ride bike both in the city and the highway. Give it a try.
        Best of luck!
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Shine seems to be good for me also. Slauto is good, but quite did not like the looks as much as any another yamaha bikes. i have seen very few yamaha ss 125 in bangalore. every 3rd person in city has shine125cc . and i have doubt about availability of spare parts, and good service center. is the kerb weight too much as compared to shine and phoenix ?

i will test ride phoenix and shine in the coming weekend

SS125 weighs a few kgs more as compared to other 125ccs. But, that only aids the stability of the bike. Also, I have not had any spare issues so far. And exclusivity is a factor with a SS125.

                Re: best commuter bike

I would say stay away from Bajaj commuter bikes. They are not exactly problem free. They are cheap to run around and maintain but will always have issues. Particularly vibrations. And also the ST has been stopped since a long time. I think you meant Discover 125M which is almost the same as the ST. My friend has an ST and I have ridden it to some extent. Personally I never felt confident when riding. The disc brake is there just for the sake of it. Not really very effective. I didn't find the rear seat comfortable too. I could feel the rebound whenever the bike went over a bump. Note that all this is my personal experience.

Glamour PGMFI is a great bike but not Value for money. Will give you 5-6 kmpl more fuel efficiency but the price of the bike is much beyond your budget. Better to go for the carburettor version. I learnt to ride on a Glamour so I can give you some insight. The bike is extremely comfortable to ride and also the pillion seat is nicely proportioned with the footpegs position complementing the seat. The best part of the bike is its engine. Super fuel efficient. In city will give you between 60-65kmpl for sure if ridden sanely. The engine is very torquey and will pull from lower rpms very well even with a pillion. The only problem I faced was the front brakes since I was riding the drum version. Please get the disc version only.

Pheonix has made quite an impact in the 125cc segment owing to its looks and features. The only problem I see is the TVS tyres. I can't say for sure if is bad as I haven't ridden the bike. The overall reviews as far as I know are good. The pillion comfort should be decent from what I see.

CB Shine is the king of the segment. I think the newer ones come with MRF tyres which should do the job well. AFAIK most 125cc bikes give similar fuel efficiency (55-65kmpl). The Yamaha SS125 is an exception. It is more of a sporty 125cc, less fuel efficient compared to the others but far more fun to ride. In my experience it is probably the best handling 125 in India.

Most 125cc bikes will cost you 68-70k on road. I would advice on getting disc brake versions only. Please take a test ride on all the bikes mentioned.

                  Hello all!

Took a test ride on yamaha ss 125cc. two min test ride is very little to experience and tell about it. but i felt very comfortable.very smooth engine, nice pickup, comfortable handling.Saddle Height for my height (5 '3) its perfect.Pickup is good.very smooth engine.Shift pattern 1 down, 4 up .
Kerb weight is good. Its really not an issue at all.
Sales Representative about the mileage : 55-60km/l.

Finally I have decided to buy Yamaha SS 125 .
